Just a heads up for all considering headers, manifolds, or whatever from whoever you choose. I was searching around and ordered a set of locking header bolts from Stage 8 Locking Fasteners. They replace the stock studs on all 4.6 & 5.4 SOHC and DOHC mod motors. I chose to do this because I was going to have to remove some studs for the Kooks install anyway... so why not do it right.
I think you all should think about it too. Better to replace the hardware when you do your install than to have to rip everything apart AGAIN later down the road.
I even found a set available directly from Ford. Stage 8 locking header bolts for SOHC/DOHC 4.6 & 5.4 mod motors: part #M-9432-A54

For the Stage 8 header bolts is from Thunder Racing online...

$34.95 for the kit. I'll let everyone know how long it takes to get them. I was going to do the kooks headers today but decided to wait for these.
Cheers!

that Constable provided shows up as "No Matches found" on the FordRacing website as well as the Fordparts.com website. So I just went to that site that TOOMANYFORDS provided and purchased the Stage 8 bolts. Thanks.......

Actually, the Ford part # is correct. Not only did I find them online, but I also found them on the shelves at Downs Ford. The bolts directly from Stage 8 Locking Fasteners are part #8906. Mine just arrived today.

don't list them on the Ford Racing website, or there was a problem w/their site today, cuz I punched in that previous # you supplied, and no matches came up. But thanks for the Stage 8# anyway.

I used Stage 8 Bolts when I installed my Reinhart Exhaust. They were bought through a Ford Motorsports dealer for less than I could get them through Stage 8.
The header installation would be easier with the factory studs. If you're willing to put in a few extra minutes, the stage 8 are nice.
One huge piece of advice on the shorties: Start all of the bolts before pulling any of them all the way down. Also take care not to strip the aluminum heads.

NOT w/the full length headers that Kook's sells. Atleast not according to LOGAN. And he's the one who has already installed these headers on his car. You must have been refering to "shorty" headers. But Constable, TooManyFords, and myself were all talking about the full length headers since all of us are planning on installing them. Sorry for the confusion.

decided to purchase the stage 8 header collector bolts. header collectors tend to vibrate the bolts loose, so the stage8 locking bolts would be very nice on the collectors too. The only other way to ensure that they will not come lose is to use lock washers, and to double nut the bolts, jamming both nuts on each bolt together to prevent them from walking off each bolt.
