hello everyone
its been a fairly busy month for the marauder. After hours of searching through valve cover threads i decided to jump on the band wagon. I didn't have much trouble at all R&Ring the valve covers because i removed the upper intake as well to have all 3 items powdercoated. The BIGGEST tip to anyone who is on the fence weather or not they want to do this is "rolling the valve covers upwards, towards the upper intake". I was pretty frustrated with the passenger side valve cover so i took a break, went in and read some install reviews and that tip saved me a TON of time. that was really the only snag i came across. Overall i would say the job took me 4 hours from start to finish. The Powder coating shop i used was decent. only 150 dollars (CDN) to powdercoat everything shown. they took longer than expected but aside from that i couldnt' complain.
Next was the SCT tune. Last saturday i drove to Lidio's shop in michigan area to get my car tuned. Needless to say I was very impressed not only with lidio himself but the cars in his shop. I pull into the parking lot and the first thing is see is a brand new Shelby GT500 with big ass street slicks on the back. inside was a Terminator cobra on the hoist as well as a '06ish GTO and few 99-04 gt's. While lidio was tuning my car a guy was unloading a Saleen to be Dyno'd.
so anyways, back to lidio, i called the guy the day before to see if i could get tuned. He said he could squeeze me in around 10. i show up around 9:15 am and i was back on the road heading to canada at 9:35. I would have loved to just hang out there all day but he was busy and so was I. anyways, driving back home and i could IMMEDIATELY feel the difference. i had a hard time driving the speed limit. Absolutly love this MOD!
and finally, just yesturday i decided to tint my tail lights and reverse lights. I used NiteShades and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I would like it to be a bit more glossy but from what i've read after a few washes or so they should start to get shiny.
anyways, enough rambling, heres some pics
before ( i don't think the previous owner ever touched the engine bay)
