Seems to me that there are good mechanical improvements on the 04 and lets hope they learned how to paint a Marauder leaning towards silver I live in Phoenix and have owned many black Mustangs a little warm but still my favorite color. ? 2 knock sensors and tranny improvement is it worth it or ? 03 witha few improvements of my own. Hmmmmmmmmm.ps you are all so lucky to have Marauders all over the east out here I've seen 3 called all dealers some got 2 or 3 only all year..I'ts the BEST FAMILY MANS COBRA PERIOD and a Supercharger what more could you ask for........? NEW GT 40 would be nice.........HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE...BE SAFE NO MORE CRUNCHED MARAUDERS PLEASE.........:)

Drive an '04 then decide if the improvements are worth it.
There may not be too many '03 left for too long

I've seen the 03s going for as low as 25k, the 04s are a few grand more expensive. I would rather take the money i save on getting the 03 versus the 04 and put that into some stage 1 mods and maybe even exhaust. Just my .2 cents

I would definitely spend the extra money and get the '04. The dual knock sensor alone is going to be expensive to upgrade for '03 owners and is double the insurance against detonation which is especially important for:

1. Supercharged applications.
2. Lousy California 91-octane "premium" fuel.

Plus you get the slightly improved transmission and more efficient torque converter.

Stock '03 is sluggish off the line.

Stock '04 is quick and responsive off the line.

I also love the shift points in the '04.

My 03 300A isn't at all sluggish off the line. I can break traction on dry pavement anytime I want. Even before the plugs and stat. Which,.. by the way. I haven't seen any performance increase with them, and I know I won't until I get my DR chip for x-mas!

anyway,.. my 2 cents...
I'd get an 03 300A,... if you can find it. or failing that, a dark toreador red 04!

Petrograde -

Didn't mean to insult. I love the '03's and '04's. Both are great cars.

I test drove a silver '04. I am definitely going to try for one of those.

Not sure if it's the 2004 improvements, or just car to car variation, but I found the 04 to be a bit snappier off the line than the 03 when test driving at a dealer who had both. But, it's hard to say for certain why. I also had limited seat time in both.

I ended up getting an 04. To my surprise I found it to be much more responsive off the line than I anticipated (based on the reviews I had read). Just a half pedal jab off the line produces some smokey launches:)

If the dealer had offered more of a discount on the 03, it would have been a tougher choice. Both are indeed great cars.

AZ - Test drive the 03 and 04. Make your decision based on that. What ever works best for you. Either way they are both great cars.:D

Drove a bone stock 03 and 04 on Friday, 04 is a bit "snappier" off the line and seems to have a better power band in the 3k to 4k rpm range. Of course, this is a seat of the pants test.
