I think I found some great forums here so I'll skip the lurking and just jump in and say Hi. I'm hailing from the Motor City and see that there are a good number of members here in the area as well.
I recently picked up a 2004 MM and so far it's been awesome. I've put only a few hundred miles on and I'm still deep in the grinning stage:D Although I'm fairly accustomed to muscle car performance having gone through a few very modded late model mustangs (and still have an 86 GT in the garage that Lidio helped me build), it seems this MM really has what it takes to put the fun back into driving on a daily basis for me. Not sure if I'm gettin old or what, but I just prefer the classy muscle of the MM over the brute power/weight ratio of the Mustang.
The best part is that this MM actually performs much more stoughtly then I anticipated. After reading a good number of reviews I was expecting a little less oomph off the line. Yeah, it could definitely use some additional torque down low to get all the weight moving, but, unlike the reviews I've read, laying some decent rubber is only an accelerator jab away from a dig any time. I'm not sure if the dual knock sensors and improved timing for 2004 has actually helped a good bit, or whether there is just a good amount of variation from car to car. But, either way, I tend to believe the MM I'm driving is performing better than what many reviews described. Of course, I won't know until I get some track time.
I'm looking forward to doing some mods as the budget allows. Probably nothing until next spring though. I haven't seen Lidio from Alternative Auto in quite a few years since we finished off the mustang. I'm sure he'll be grinning when he sees me sniffin around the shop with new MM:)
Anyway, nuff about me. I'll see you guys around the forums.
