There is a smallish party of pinko socialists in Canada called the New Democratic Party, the NDP but they are thinking of dropping the New as they are no longer new. However the PD is a rude sounding name for a person who likes the same sex sexually in Quebec, NDP is NPD in French and thus they may not do this. Which may be wise. Likewise DP in English isn't much better...

It reminds me of the current government which at one time split apart and and then tried and later succeeded in reforming which led to my MP to become Prime Minister, anyhow the Progressive Conservatives, and the Reform party the split off section from my part of the country, the (republican ultra right wing religious part) also headed by my then MP who later retired and let the current MP take over. (health reasons)...

They were at one time called, due to some extremely short sightedness.

The Canadian Reform Alliance Party.

The name was then changed only to alliance and partly succeeded when an even more extreme rightwing guy took over which split the reform and well it gets complicated...

Any how they are now the conservative party.

CRAP just didn't work.

Ah! Nononono! They are the "Conservative Party of Canada". They are far from being 'conservative'. Farther still from my old Progresssive Conservative party. And don't forget the part when Stockwell 'Doris' Day arranged for Peter 'Brutus' McKay to back stab David Orchard in order to finalize the hostile takeover by the CRAP party of the PC party.

We don't get much of a leader out of Stephen Harper. Iggy would be worse. But, with the NDP we would get Jack.

Worse. At least your politicians are interesting or at least controversial.

We have a long time famous quote, attributed to a poet, Irving Layton - ""In Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Canada at last has a political figure worthy of assassination". And that was in the 1970's.

No one hates these guys enough to put their own freedom on the line to attempt to 'end' them. Not even the real crazies. Sad, isn't it?

Benevolent Dictatorship.

Although I did like the Joe Who revival, especially those LP attack ads he had, they were great!

Could you? We've got the guy in the 3 piece suit that eats kittens; the guy who's lived in every other country on the planet but the one he wants to lead for the last 30 years, and the one who thinks the Taliban are just religiously opressed and misunderstood.

If they juggled, we'd vote for them. Given our other options, of course.

edit: and the fourth! The woman who grew up with these hippies as her parent's friends: (really, she did!)
