I can't believe it's been 40 years today. What an event. Oh well, many of you weren't even born yet, and have no idea what you missed.

It was just 400 thousand young people getting together on a farm in New York, spending 3 days listening to various groups perform. No internet, no cell phones, just music, rain, mud, and lots of drugs.

Good times.

:)

I was in Sub School waiting to class up at the time.We heard a little scuttlebutt about it but none of us went.
What boat were you on? I couldn't equalize the pressure during escape training in the chamber and got my ear drums perforated, when they wanted me to do it again I non-vol'd and volunteered for a Monitor in Nam.Caught an LST out of Yokusuka instead.

Wow....

When you posted this thread, grandfather and I were watching you tube vids of Janis, Arlo, and many other young folks at Woodstock last night.

How weird is that?

We were feeling nostalgic after spending the day with Lucy and winding down.

What were you doing yesterday...mmmm....:beatnik:

I was a little yong to go, 11 at the time. I did buy the album later. I remeber the local radio did a 10 year aniversary show, had a bunch of music that didn't make the record. Be cool to get my hands on some of that.

I heard about it I think the first day it was going on and it was too late to go. They've done some lookbacks this week on tv with Levon Helm.

It was an old diesel boat. I was a sonar tech, stationed at Sub Squadron 12, Key West Florida.

Yeah the "chamber" was wild. You had to see that thing for a long time before you actually went into it. For those who don't know, it's a huge tower, filled with water. When I went through it, they would bring you in at the 50ft. level, pressurize the cabin, open the hatch, then you had to go from that level to the top, exhaling all the way. If you failed to exhale, divers would punch you in the stomach. Fun times.

Same with me.

Different time back then, but in some ways things are still the same (folks think the townhall protests going on now are a big deal)....

Yep,we had a tough azzed Seal Chief running the chamber that day,3 times he stopped to let other guys out but not me.Afterwards he had us standing at attention and inspected us,when he saw me with some blood coming out of my nose and ears he commanded me to double time to Sick Bay on the Upper Base. And when a Seal Chief tells you to double time, you RUN!

Check your PM's.
