Got a few sets of CVPI rims lying around, want to mount these babies up. I know Glenn is going with this tire, curious if anyone has any pro's or con's stories with these. I sure hope these won't break my axles, I really need to get new hardened ones. :fishslap: Thanks.

you're going to want a widened rim to mount up much of a tire

Should be #3794R - P295/50R16. Dia. is 27.7". Approved rim width is 8" -10".

some have taken the position that it is easier to snap an axle with a DR instead of something like a cheater slick like this: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETStreet difference in the way the tire reacts to the shock of a hard launch maybe?
Dunno if it's true or not, just something interesting to throw in the mix. I have 2 of those in the link btw that I got from sd8683 and 28 spline axles... so we'll see

Sooooo, which one is the size I should get for stock CVPI non-widened?

Is this gonna be track only? 275 on a 7" rim is really really pushing it, it is not going to give you a good contact patch unless you air them way down

MT claims they will fit 7-9 inch wheels...that's YOUR call.
I have those in 18's on widened rims and daily drive them.

OK, I need them to fit a STOCK set of NON-WIDENED 16" CVPI rims. I also DON"t want them to throw a code. I Don't care if its a slick, et street, etc.... I just need a size recommendation please.

Bias ply rears rarely agree with Radial fronts.
Oh they'll fit, and they won't throw a code as you say...but your nerves will at 120+ mph.

I have never done this personally but my friend with an 11 second BMW was just telling me about how scary the car drove w/ bias ply rears and radial fronts -- massive "pucker factor" if you know what I mean. But yeah that is generally not recommended from what I have heard.

Get an 8" x 16" rim and go with the above. This is a MT ET Street RADIAL - you do not want a MT ET Street bias-ply tire. Take it from me - I ran them for a year and they are not safe on the track without tubes especially with radials on tlhe front. But, the tubes will cut your et due to their rotating mass - they are heavy. I will be getting these radials soon for my MM.

what does it do?
The slightest twitch of the wheel kicks the tires from side to side like they were on ice. NOT fun. Did it on my 608rwhp Firebird Formula years back.
