Just got back from another road trip down south where I couldn't find any doggone hi octane fuel so I decided it's time to clean out the engine a bit.
I used to work with a buddy at a used car lot as his mechanic/salesperson and in doing this I learned a lot from other dealers about minor tuning, cleaning out engines and prepping cars for sale (and more than I ever wanted to know about window regulators). I found that using a bottle of seafoam injected into the older cars intakes was really good at clearing out the built up garbage inside.
It does put on a bit of a smoke show as mentioned in another seafoam thread but it really does work wonders on neglected vehicles. Mine has been babied pretty much of its 140K miles with mobil 1 and the best fuel I can find but since I was going to seafoam my sweeties minivan I went ahead and did the Marauder too.
I used a drip bottle system from a company called "full throttle" but you can make one from parts from a hardware store. The key parts are an adjustable ball valve and a tee that allows fresh air to mix with the seafoam before it's sucked into the upper intake.
I had noticed a bit of engine knocking at low rpm's which seemed to be worse after the roadtrip and now that it's been seafoamed, she purrs like a kitten at low rpm's and roars like usual when you get on it.
I have 4 pictures in my gallery of the drip bottle, ball valve and the air injection tee (that I will add to this when I figure it out again). I also have some video clips of the process as well as the smoke show if anyone knows how to post them.
