has anyone ever had a ford 8.8 rear end shipped?? if so what was the price?

would anyone know the approximate weight of one?

Not if you use a terminal to terminal shipper like forwardair.com. Door to door, will definitely cost that much.

One reason, it may be so expensive, is that it can't ship on a standard shipping pallet,(LTL shippers figure, by dimension, then weight). No one ships carpet for this reason.

oh yeah I have shipped engines, transmissions, car hoods, etc. They can do double pallets as well. Just call around and do your homework on shipping, price varies a lot. But terminal to terminal like forward, will as a general rule, always be a lot cheaper than door to door, if you can afford the loss of convenience of having to go get it at a local terminal.

I have recieved a few large items via Greyhound bus believe it or not...the largest was a complete 1971 Mustang front door complete with interior and glass cost me 78 dollars from Washington State to Connecticut....you just have to pick it up at the terminal.

Well that door was pretty heavy....take the diff out and axles and ship seperatly

I shipped one, built a framed-up crate with 2x4's and strapped it in with cargo tie-down straps. I believe it was a bit less than $200 to ship it. It is definitely truck freight. I generally use R&L Carriers, they've always beat any price I could get anywhere else. I usually drop off at their terminal. I took my crate to them, then they stuck it on a pallet so it's easier to move around with their forklifts.

I picked one up and set it on a palate at Mikes. Is that the assy you are shipping? I've used Yellow Freight before paid $120 for a transmission from Indiana. There are also places like "pack and ship" where they will properly palletize or box in what ever you have to ship out. Whole axle with rotors etc is bigger than a standard 4x4 pallate is I think (diagonally)

Might cost you more for the next size up...
