Looking to fill the void for the next 2 months (new motor on MM). Found a Silver 2006 Mustang GT at the local dealer for 19.8k (probably do it at that price out the door). Has the FRPP track pack, Hurst short throw shifter, FRPP CAI ($2500 worth of extra goodies). Looking to replace my 2001 Dodge Intrepid (giving to mother). Also, test drove a couple of Dodge Charger R/Ts also in the same price range....but I think the stable needs a coupe and not another sedan.
Had to walk away and think about it but that looks like one nice deal (dealer doesn't know about the goodies).

Dont get the charger unless you want to replace steering bushings ever 40k miles and you enjoy a cheap interior....
Ok the first gen S197's didnt have fantastic interiors but atleast the doors would stay shut.

An OASIS report on this vehicle couldn't hurt plus a Carfax if you are serious. I can provide the 1st one but not the second.

Offroad, you aint lyin....I test drove 2 Chargers R/Ts a 2008 and 2006 and a 2005 Magnum. The 08 was the nicest of the bunch leather seats were soft and MUCH better overall interior then the 05/06. We spent about a half hour with the 05 Magnum and ehhh.... after the initial wow factor wore off on the HEMI/Flowmaster (it droned BIG TIME at certain RPMs) the room and the comfort of 5 doors the little things started to show itself. For instance the dash board rattled and was uneven the plastic around the Navigation seemed chintzy and the little air ducks were pulled out and the clips had broken off! The build quality in the 05 was very disappointing. Even the wife (new car will be hers) noticed the cheapy dash board on the Dodge. BTW, all had 20/22s and hated them all; if I purchased one I would turn those in for stokers and have them mark down the price. We looked at a 04 Lincoln LS 3.9 V8, 06 Mercury Milan 3.0 V6, 07 Chevy Impala 3.9 V6 and 06 Cadillac STS 3.6 V6 all were nice! In the end the 2006 Mustang GT is the one we would buy right know. The FRPP suspension M-FR3-MGT (shocks, lowering springs, sway bar, tower strut) Hurst short throw shifter, CAI and Carbon interior sets it apart. I drove the @#%$ out of the Mustang with the salesmen and it rode very nice. The wife even went through the gears:cool:. We sat in another Mustang and my 9 and 6 year old said it was comfortable in the back. Now the only problem is my wife's heels dig into the floor board and tear it up; I am going to have to get her some rubber mats on the driver side:D

Wife wont go for it; been trying to get her to buy a Silver Birch with a SC no go every single time:( But i think I could live with a GT in the stable. Actually looked at some 03/04 Cobras but that might be a bit much for her:coolman:

They didn't have a trak pack in 06 it probably has the FR3 handling pack, I have it on my GT and it's great, handles much better then stock yet wont break your back over bumps, it's a bit jolty but no big deal.

I live in Central Cali and drove around the country roads for a bit test driving the GT and "jolty" and "giggle" is the correct description. It would be a rough ride for me (had a 2K GT with Tokico HP Blues and Vogtland Springs), rolling hills, a couple of grades pot holes, and just plain jacked up congested Cali HWY. My wifes commute is against traffic with nice strait, flat roads and no grades to climb.

Hmmm....2011 Mustang GT to have 6-SPD, 5.0 32 valve 400HP and the regular Mustang to have 315HP 3.7 V6 I may have to hold out for this one. Then they go on to say the 4.6 and 5.4 will be discontinued to be replaced by 5.0 (GT) and 6.2 (Cobra).

I found another Mustang Silver with Black Racing strips, headers, CAI, edlebrock catback w/ 20". I spoke to the owner and asked why he was selling and he said he was taking care of his 96 year old dad and 90 year old step mom! Turns out he's 70 years old! Aaahh man I want to be like him when i grow up! Then he goes on to say he just picked up a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V with the LS2 400HP........that bout made my day....I had to share.

Ok, the dealer called and said he would take our offer we submitted two weeks ago. So we went down signed the paperwork and my wife has a new daily driver.

Mods: FR3 Handling Pack and CAI.
Looking at pickuping some used Ford Racing mufflers, part #M-5230-GTA. I think they come standard on the Shelby GT. $200 new $500.
