I was working a temp job and got burned on a heating element, got third degree burns on my two fingers and second degree on my hand. They covered my medical bills, but am wondering if they can be held liable as they left a open heating element with no warning . I cant go back to work its bad enough and can only type with one hand.

You can not sue your employer, that is what Worker's comp is for.

You may have a claim against a third party who designed, built, maintained, or installed the heating element and related device.

If the affected or exposed workers were not properly notified or trained and/or if the eqquipment was not properly labled or guarded it could be an OSHA violation.
These things can be complicated and expensive to litigate (sp?).
See what workers comp provides before escalating the issue.
