Adam, when I talked to Darrin (BC Automotive) when I was purchasing my converter I was in the same predicament you are, I didn't know whether to go with a 3000 or 3500, Darrin told me I wouldn't see much of a difference if I went with a 3000 because our stock stall is 2700ish..... Which makes sense because when I had the PI 2800 stall TC installed I noticed very little difference, I would suggest you wait and see how my car drives before making your final choice.

yea thats what im thinking i was doing alittle research the other night and was thinking the 3500 would be better. im really interested to see what your car does with the 3500
Go with the 3500, I have and it's a big improvment in acceleration. My driveability is much improved. Just a little throttle and I'm at 40 MPH and moving out, with traffic but a distant memory.
It's not the S/C because I'm not really into boost where the guage can read it.

when do our cars need the triple plate tc?
or is single plate finefor our applications?

Not worth the money and effort to do lower then 3500. Just don't do it then. The tuning after the TC install is necessary to fine tune your shift schedule. My 3500 drives like a stock unit - no problems at all.

wait until you get the 4.10s installed and then see. I did 4.10s and the 3500 and it made a huge difference but not sure I'd do both again.

I have 3,500 and 4.10's LOVE it. Just an FYI, not that it matters in my opinion, but if you buy from Precision Industries you get ONE free stall change. Go 3,500.

I've got the 3000,
if I had to do it again I'd go with the 3500.
Still might.;)

On a stock marauder a 3000 is more than enough. If you have a Procharger or Vorteck Super Charger I'd get the 3500. But also keep in mine Darrin has a 3200 stall TC the might be perfect for what you may be looking for.

I did 4.10s and 3200 because you aren't just limited to 3000 or 3500. :D I looked at dyno charts and placed the stall right where the average power incline really begins. It was perfect IMO.
Then I did a Trilogy and it still works very well.

I hear the PI actually stall a lot higher than what they label them as. e.g. A PI 2800 actually is closer to a 3000 unit of a different manufacturer. (creative marketing) I have the 2800 PI triple disc full lockup (Mikes old one) and the lockup can be felt sometimes. It is a nice step up from stock. Waiting on the drags to tell the tale.

3500 stall and 4.10s go together like PB&J!
I've had a 3500 stall with 3.55 gears for over 2 years now, of course I had to get my tune tweaked for it to work correctly with the stock gears but I'm glad I got my PI 3500 stall.

Eric, you're fooling yourself! Your convertor is Pink! I saw it! Pink won't lock at all, it's too flamboyant! ;) Have you run the 1/4 yet with the new goodies?

I got a 3500 pi stall and 4.10 na. Love it. Best thing done to the car. The tune is everything though. If you dont get the tune right you wont be happy. I got my last tune from a past member. I love driving the car and I hated the trans schedule before. So just do it and get a tune you like.

My car is also a daily driver, and supercharged.
I would strongly suggest a PI 3000 stall Triple disk convertor
That is how I have mine set up.
A 3500 stall converter may be too loose for a daily driver in traffic.

When I got mine and opened it up I was like WTF IT'S PINK?!?!?! I didn't care though cause no one would see it lol.

Depends on who you get it from. If you get it from a place who actually honestly tells you what the stall is then if you get less than 3200-3500 you will be pissed off at whoever sold it to you.
Or, if you get it from a place where the builder does things to the internals to get stall without drivability then a 3000 is going to make you more happy in daily driving from all reports.
Totally depends on who builds it and the style of the converter.
Darrin
Soooo, Darin, do you have a TC solution for me yet??? Anything new?

I have had both.
I would recommend a 3000 for a true DD. 3500 is fun but you do lose a little driveability and gas mileage. It is impossible not to.
Plus if you SC your car it may blow right by the 3500 stall you wanted..

I got a 2800 from Darrin with the transmission from him.
I am very happy.

Go with the 3500 with it built into the tune I hardly notice it in heavy traffic. 3000 not much off a change from factory
I took 1 second off my stock 1/4 times with a 3000 and a tune.
There is a huge difference between a 3000 pi converter and stock from a performance standpoint.
How much better is a 3500 with a tune on a stock car? Anyone have any feel or numbers for that?

Yeah, I am waiting to see if he has made any progress on something for the turbo. It is hard to match a turbo and a TC.

Darrin suggested a higher stall speed... (around 3200, right Darrin?)
But I did not want to be far from stock, just wanted a stronger converter.
Don't think I'd want a high stall number for a turbo.... but that math is so confusing to me, I'm more than likely wrong!

It's not about the 'advertised' stall speed with the turbo. It hits extremely hard so you want a TC that stalls as advertised, not one that flashes 500-1000 rpm higher when the genie comes out.

A tripple disc PI will hit very hard when it locks so keep that in mind for daily driven cars. I had one put in, and took it out the same week to replace with a single disk PI. On the track, maybe. On the street, no way. Hits WAY too hard at lockup. My single locks much smoother, but you do feel it. Almost feels like an extra gear. People who ride in my car think it has a 5 speed trans.

My 1st MM had the stock TC, w/4.10 gears and a Scott Beer tune. I thought it was an absolute beast.
The new one I got recently has 4.10s, w/a 3k PI TC, and it puts my old car completely to shame. Granted there are a couple of other goodies but it is N/A and the 3k is great in traffic if I want to pass someone while being a beast off the line. I kick out easily in second with hard launch and sometimes 3rd if I am really on it. My only issue is a slight pulsing at higher RPM if I get on it with the OD still on to pass someone on the highway doing around 60. That is because of the tune currently on the car and Scott will be fixing that shortly for me.
There is definitely a difference between the stock and a 3k TC. I know I am happy with it and see no reason to change it for now.
