Do you mean sunglasses or nightshades brand paint for your tail lights? If it's the paint, do a thread search on "nightshades" you'll find the info there.

I'd use paint instead of the NightShades. With the NightShades, the whole lens will still light up at night. With the paint, only the "slots" show up at night. JMHO & .02. Here's mine with paint....... http://www.mercurygallery.net/mmnet/showphoto.php?photo=842&size=big&password=&sort=1&cat=511&page=1

I was thinking about re-painting my tail lights with gloss black. Nite Shades is some tricky stuff. After my 2nd coat I developed some small runs in the 'paint'. Half of it was my fault, I think I was spraying too fast. The other half was the Nite Shades, the nozzle gums up very quickly! If you don't stop to wipe it, it starts spitting everywhere!

ok here's my take:

Nite Shades it looks good when done properly, you can still see some light through it. But, it's a pain in the a$$ to spray and it seems touchier to current temperature and humidity levels.

Gloss Paint it will totally match the rest of the paint if done correctly. ...hmmm,.. well,.. I can't think of a down side that doesn't also apply to Nite Shades.

Hey Dean,.. hope to see you at Chuck's on Saturday.

Nightshades is sold at National Performance on W. Charleston between Decatur and Upland. Its on the N. side of Charleston. They had 3 cans a few months ago and a spot on the shelf so it should be a stocked item.

Remember DOT laws regarding tail light visibility and required distances. Although the nite shades product is NOT neccesarily legal, it does allow additional ligght to show through at nite. Gloss paint WON'T. The paint may also scratch, the nite shades won't. Unless you use an abbrasive, which likely you won't. Paint can run as well, it's all in the patience of application. Mine turned out really good. So did my wife's. I did Rick's, and caught a run. But I was not taking my time as I should have.

Basically it comes down to this, during the day, they are gloss black, at nite, I want some extra light showing through purely for the safety factor. Aside from that, no one can tell the difference at night.

Good-luck, and I am sure you will come to the conclusion that suits you best.

BTW: SUMMIT RACING, ORDER TOLL FREE OR ON LINE. $9.99 PER CAN. GET TWO.
