My MM recently started to make a clicking noise under the hood. I think it's a liffter. Can anyone help me out? It first started only when I started up my car but now it's a constant click!!

How many miles?
What kind/viscosity oil are you using?
What kind of oil filter are you using?
Mods?

Can you take a video of the noise? Or post a sound clip?

Could be the dreaded head tick. I have not experienced it, but do a search I think it is fairly well known. I think it is more common in 2003s, but I am not positive.

Could be anything...timing chain tensioners, lifters, valve rattle, one of the pulleys making noise...etc.

Depends. If its really loud then its not the head tick. I have it and its a faint sound that you can only hear with your head close to the engine.

I though that the head tick was fairly loud. I remember is being discussed that it could be heard outside the car with the hood down...I think.

Have you changed gas brands or tunes lately? Was thinking possible detonation? Then again, KR would kick in...

We really need a sound clip, or at least a better description of the "clicking"...

Driver's side? Passenger side? Front of motor? Up high or down low? Does it change with RPM? Does it do it only at idle? Anything more you can supply will help.

My driver's side fuel injectors tick like crazy until the engine is warmed up then I really don't hear it anymore.

Pulleys don't make clicking sounds they making whining sounds......ask DOOM he has heard my mini s/c lol.
