Are you tired of lame ass lazy idiots talking on the phone and riding your rear bumper? Do you know that you could easily stop shorter than that rusted mini van? We'll fret no more! (ok fret less..)
In my old CV I got rearended by a Dodge Durango. I was stopped at a red light for 15 seconds. Guy was "talking on his cell phone" - he hit me good I was happy that his radiator was gushing! Nuff said - I've established my paranoia with real world example. I recently installed a nice Federal Signal (30 LED) center mount high stop light. Black in color. Its a perfect fit as it was from a cop car. If you look carefully at my timeslip link there is a picture of the rear of the car and you can see my fed sig CMHSL.
I ordered this device: http://www.signalz4u.com/ You hit the brakes. The rear center deck light blinks on and off 1 time every second 3 times for 3 seconds -- on the 4th second it stays on steady burn. I think it's worth the $22 bucks.
Installed it and it works great. Now I can break hard and people behind me won't (less of a chance) hit my Marauder. Works with regular bulbs or LED brake light.
Tip: take the ground wire and run it into the black negative wire on the car. I tried grouding the green ground wire to the metal rear deck and no workie.
Anyhoo happy with this $22 dollar jobie, and thought I'd share with ya'll.

New Jersey probably throw you in jail for doing that. Hope it works in the future for you though.

The site where I orderd it is in Cali - legal there. On the newer Mercedes the high center brakes lights strobe for safety, I'm guessing all those people aren't in jail?

A Ma Deuce on a pintel mounted by the moonroof would be an excellent deterent to tail gating. Much longer range than claymores and better penetration too! :2thumbs:

You may have bought some peace of mind .... but no amount of flashing lights will prevent the "lame azz idiots" on the phone from hitting you. They are just too self-absorbed to even notice you. :(

I'm always watching the road behind me as I begin to decelerate, and I always pump the brake a few times quickly if I think someone behind me might not notice the slowdown. It's a great way to break people out of their freeway trance when there is a jam.
However, if I could do this every time, I think I would love it, not having to think about it. Great suggestion!

If idiots behind you arent paying attention (ie texting, twittering,jabber-jawing away on a cellphone or whatever) all the taillights in the world arent going to help. I hate thinking about that when Im waiting at a red light on my Harley too.

Tell me about it,I've got the LED Spoiler,Auxillary LED tail and brake lights, stock turn signals converted to LED brake, turn and running lights and the Kuryakyn Panacea tail light and thinking about adding more and I still don't trust anybody.Even though my lights flash 5 times when I hit the brakes I still watch my mirrors and flash them when ever I see anybody approaching from the rear.
I've been rear ended in 5 different cars, one guy hit me twice cause he was two footing it and stomped the gas instead of the brake after he hit me the first time. Another time a guy in a Caddy pulled up behind me with my kid on the back of the bike and deliberately hit my back tire with his front bumper numerous times until he wrecked us.If I'd been packing that day I'd have shot him and plead self defense and probably would've walked.
Needless to say tail gaters make my blood boil! :mad2:
