My band is getting ready for our first tour and transportation is in the question. We are touring in Jan BTW. We will probably not get my drummers dads van so here are the options:

I might have to drive the Marauder with winter tires and a U-Haul trailer or attach a U-Haul trailer to the Blazer. The issue is I know the Marauder is a pain to drive in the snow if it does snow and the truck is 20 years old. We cannot afford to buy a van and right now I am outta work so I cannot save. I do not know anyones van we can borrow either.

Which vehicle should I take? Do you have another suggestion?

Drive the Blazer. I'd do a quick tune up on it first, but nothing major: Fuel filter, air filter, oil change, check coolant, Seafoam. Plugs and belts if it needs 'em. Nothing super expensive. Easier to fix on the side of the road if something breaks, parts should be cheaper too (you gotta plan for that stuff - you know it).

Most of my buddy's bands tour in '80s fullsize Chevrolet vans or Suburbans and never have any major problems.

Better yet, trade the Blazer and do like the Mummies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A2LBbb-YRo) did, buy an old Pontiac ambulance:

I guess you don't know me too well. :P

Looks like the Blazer is the way to go dispite being 20 years old.

I'm not trading my K5 for anything. Someone once offered me an SRT8 Jeep and $20,000 cash last year. Not a chance man. I love it too much.

Why are you in charge of transportation? Can't they cough up some dough? Uhaul cargo vans are only $20.00 a day.

Simple.........If you and the "band" have no money then no tour. Think about it!

There are 20+ K5's on eBay. Most are less than $5k, But It Now.

The guy that offered me 20K and an SRT8 was in prision. It wasn't B.S. but even if I agreed it probably wouldn't have happened.

Very few people understand sentimental value and it seems like no one here does. As far as the tour, we will have the funds to tour, but we cannot buy a van. U-Haul charges by mile for a van, that's why the trailer seems like the solution. It's like $18 a day.

Seems like everyone is leaning towards the truck dispite it age.

You guys are right about the Blazers being $5,000 and that's for a really good one. They aren't worth much at all.

Keep in mind the GENERIC MOTORS is a 1 sizefits all theory for repairs. the MM is model specific when it comes to parts. more chance of Billy JoeBob havin' a part for the K5 than the MM down in TenerC, Hyuck,. Or should i say Hick.

If you are going to rent a trailer, then just rent a van instead. Its a cheap insurance policy in the long run. Wont cost you a dime if it breaks down and it will be a newer year van, more room. wont have to worry about some yahoo stealing your trailer. Easier to park in a small lot than a car and trailer.
