Oct. 25 was the 2nd annual Northern Virginia Mustang Club Shootout w/ the corvette Club and Lightning club.
When I arrived, I immediately put ice on my intake and let her cool for about an hour before making my first pass, and came away with a personal best of 14.099 @ 97.67.
I FORGOT TO TAKE OD OFF!!!!!!!!:mad2: :mad2:
After Qualifying, I was racing in the Modified (Pure Street) bracket class against 12 and low 13 sec cars because of my engine rebuild. My dial in was 14.30 and then 14.35.
First round, against a 12.20 Vette I ran a 14.389 to his 12.028 He Broke out.
Second round against a 12.4 Mustang He red Lighted
Third round against a 12.00 Vette with my dial in at 14.35.
He ran a 12.019 with a R/T of .583 to my 14.368 and a .563 R/T
I took him by 1/1000 of a sec!!!
Then in the final round round against a Bullet Mustang. He red lighted.
I got a nice 1st place trophy, and $400 cash.
Team Marauder gets there first local win!!!
Excellent Phil!!!!:coolman:

People are going to start to take the Marauder more serious in events like that, way to go MAD-3R.
I was their when Phil won his victory and let me say, “ How sweet it is”. It was very cool to hear the track announcer say “in lane one, “The Mercury M A R A U D E R, I almost lost my load. To watch the amazement of the crowd, as the 2-ton, 4 door racked up one victory after another was even better. Most people didn’t know what a Marauder was at the beginning of the day, but by days end they enjoyed a slice of Mercury history.
Oh, let’s not forget Mad’s Wife (Natasha), she almost exploded from the joy from seeing her hubby take the victory. The funny thing is during Phil’s winning pass her camcorder stopped due to a low battery. I was able to capture the moment with my 8mm, so they could savor the victory. :banana2::rock:

YES YES YES! Great job!
Man, what a week it's been for Marauders!!!
Here's my theory... perhaps the magnetic storm that's been bombarding the earth due to the recent solar flare-ups has given us 2-tonners the edge on the 1/4 mile? With a track oriented just right, I could see these behemoths literally getting SUCKED towards the finish line!!! ;) ;)
Awesome job, man.

MAD-3R Way to represent !!! It really makes me feel good to see our cars get out to the track and show others that a lot of the early reviews and negative opinions of our car were misinformed or negative exaggerations. Congratulations !!!

14.099...
I remember back when getting a 2 or 3 year old Impala SS (the RWD kind) into the high 13s required either NOS and/or a lumpy lumpy lumpy kind of engine re-work (ie. nasty cam, tuning, etc.). We've come a long way, baby...
(no flames intended to the SS crowd, been 7 years since the last one rolled out the door, and technology keeps on improving)

Way to Go!
Why did your engine rebuild put you in a category with 12 and 13 second cars?

It was all kind of arbitrary, and there wen't many in my catagory, so I didn't mind.
