Yup Michelin owns BFG and Uniroyal <- French
Goodyear owns Dunlop, Kelly Springfield, Douglas, Republic. <-American
Continental owns General <- German
I can go on with other tire companies it will make your head spin. Cooper is the only independent American tire company but it does have an affiliation with Pirelli for distribution.

Just because they are divisions of the same company doesn't mean the tires are at all similar or are made in the same country even

Yup.

If they built BFGs like they do Michelins we'd have ourselves a decent tire, IMO.

I never realized that either!~ :sleepy: It's hard to keep up with ALL the corporate bankruptcies/change overs and absorbtions etc. :shake: (I actually toured the Ardmore, OK Michelin Plant earlier this year; it USED to be a UniRoyal Plant...as has already been said, Michelin has bought them too...maybe we'll get better quality in our "BFGs" as has been said too...)

Don't know why this would happen. BFG has been owned by Michelin for years, long before the MM was in production(1988)

Yup, the OEM BFG KDWS tires were/are/will always be crap, no matter that Michelin owns the brand.

A way to know if the tire is a real Michelin tire is if the bead of the tire is tight and requires more air to pop on to the rim, it also makes a higher noise when the bead pops into place.

I didn't say an amount of months that was less than a year. I could have meant 36 months. ;)

Same thing.

Carry on! :burnout:

The KDW does pop extremely tight compared to other tires and are hard to dismount but I believe it to be just a product of the fact that it has an extremely reinforced sidewall.
