I'll be attending a school at the Navy base week after next, I want to drive my car up, but the trip is being financed by your favorite government. I'm hoping they'll tell me I can drive my MM there so I can meet up with some folks around that area.

Oh yeah, two DTRs side by side would be fantastic, I hope they let me drive there.

Airfare from Norfolk to Philadelphia at best is $397 (most are $461). This does not include baggage fees which are also reimburseable. Assuming you would be entitled to a rental car for the duration, letting you use the MM for the trip is a deal for Uncle Sam and can save them money.

Driving your MM is 378 miles one-way. Assuming a 20% local travel addition, your trip would be about 378 + 378 + 151 = 907 miles. Reimbursement rate is currently $0.55 per mile. So it would cost Uncle Sam 907 * 0.55 = $498.85.

I don't think that they could get you there cheaper unless they are gonna drive you up in a van with 10 other people or make you take the bus.

Well, uncle sam is giving me the dough to drive up, I'll be leaving this area about 10am tommorow, so I should be in that area about 4:30 or 5:00. Road Trip!
