Ill make it short as possible.....

Me and wife had sitter for the young'in today, so we were planning on taking the MM to the big city and go shopping all day (getting some Christmas stuff) so I take it to work (dealership) and wash it, then back up to go shut the door.....

all of the sudden im about 10 foot behind the car, and the wiper's start going on thier own, and the washer fluid is being sprayed too.

:help:

I go back the car, and make sure the lever is in off position, it is, but still wiping and spraying.

I turned the wipers on, and the spray stops, but wipers are going. So I play around with the lever for a about 10 seconds trying all options to see if anything else works/doesnt.

Everything works fine, hi/low beams, turn, and what not.... but when wipers on "off" position, spray is on, and wipers are going.

is this the same problems from this?

or what?

I ended up unbolting washer tank, and unplugging pump, and then pulling the fuse for the wiper motor.

I did drive the MM all day in "the big city" with no probems, with the pump unplugged and wiper fuse pulled, but this just came out of no-where, and Im not sure where to start.

Thats what I asked... if that is the same problem as what I linked to.

I didnt read anything about the spray going with the wipers in the "wacky wiper" thread.

Had the exact same thing happen on my car.

IMO, 90%+ probablity it's the wiper control module and not the multifunction switch.

Pull the wiper cowling, clean out the crap in the lower cowling, remove, clean, and re-install the module on the motor or alternatively, replace the motor/module assembly. Cost will be around $100 for the replacement if you trade in the core.

hmm i wouldnt think that the wiper motor would have anyhting to do with the sprayer. when my motor/module went out just wipers came on. its always worth a shot try and clean it up i guess before you replace it though. let us know what you find.

see thats kinda what I was thinking, but I dont know exacty what the wiper module has it claws into.... I do see how the multi-function switch could do it, but I dont see how it would just go out all the sudden.

Maybe washing the car, and water into the wiper cowl got on the wiper module and shorting it.

I dont know, Ill just have to tear into it, just seeing who else has run into this problem and which direction to steer me in

now what Rex is saying is kind of making sense. you did say you JUST washed it and obviously you didnt hose out the inside of the car (or did you? lol).
