Yes, it is! I've been shopping for about 60 days now, I couldn't let this one get by.
Anybody interested, jump on it fast. They won't last long. If they do not have it in stock at your local store, they will get it in for you.

They are nice!!! :banana2:
But, I would be scared to death to pay $2,500 to $4,000 for something that large.
Given my luck, it would break within a year.

The heck with the warranties - don't buy one.
I hate their stupid rebates! They list the price and have three asterisks next to it which means all sorts of fine print and crap you have to go through to get that price.
I bought a computer (desktop) from them a few years ago that required 7 individual rebates, filling out forms, copying UPCs, etc. I felt like I was solving the damn DaVinci code in order to get the money. Then of course they denied two of them (the largest two, of course) because I "hadn't filled them out properly." Which of course, I certainly had.
They just wanted to see how far I was going to pursue it. Six months and much hassle later I finally got all the money.
Rebates are a scam because they trust that people will either forget about them or not read the fine print so they can keep the extra.
Screw Best Buy and their rip off extended warranties!

Agreed.
To extend the warranty on this 55" for two years it was $179. They tried
their high pressure sales tactics, but I kept saying NO until it sank in. :D

Get the 5-yr warranty if you are going to get one, IMHO.

Well, if you folks missed the sale, the price is back up to $2,199 now. :bigcry:
I finally got the entertainment center (300 pounds) in place and set up the new 55".
And of course, the verdict is in on my new TV. My daughter, who has a 32" inch LCD in her bedroom, told me, "I hate the new TV!" I asked her WTF she was talking about! She said it was too lifelike, that she felt she was right there when watching anything on it. (You know the routine... One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, all those teenage girlie shows!!!)
Well, excuse me baby girl, isn't this what a good TV is suppose to do? Hello?
My review... I love it! It replaced a 52" rear projection TV which is old technology now I guess? And the picture looks better than I saw on some $2,500 and $3,500 TVs I saw on display at Best Buy. And it will blow your mind when turning on the Wii and popping a video game in. It seems like LG has their act together on these mid-range TVs now. And with a second visit to Best Buy and asking them to honor Option #2 while this TV was on sale, which they did, I got a $199 blu-ray player for an additional $100. Best $1.599 I have spent for a while.
