Gasoline was only pennies a gallon (see photo)??:cool4::D

In Rock Hill, SC (the town I spent my early years in....since I have yet to GROW UP) there were weekly "Gas Wars" that netted these prices in the early 1970's!!

I remember paying 16.9 per gallon in the early 1960's on this same street at an Amoco station!!! :beer::bows:

Oh...and check the length of the gas hose....that's so they could fill 'em up 3 abreast!!:eek:

Cheapest gas I can recall buying was during a gas war in 1971. Paid 25.9 for premium to fill up my GTO.

I started driving in '89 and 87 octane was .99 for MANY years. Seems that every station was too scared to tip the $1.00 mark. A pack of Marlboro was also only .95 cents!

Back when I was in the "oil business" (pumping gas at Fina in high school) gas was .35 cents a gallon.

I used to fill with Sunoco 260 for my beast. I shudder to think what it would cost now.

I remember a day in 1978 when I said "It'll be a cold day in H3LL before I EVER pay 65 cents for gas." Man have I lived to regret ever saying that. :o

I don't think that I have ever personally saw gas priced under 24.9 cents per gallon. Of course, at the time I was more worried about getting the free chewing gum from the attendant while he was checking the oil and washing the windows for my Dad. :D
