Got a brochure in the mail yesterday, 365HP, premium fuel. Interesting that the EPA MPG was 17 city, 25 highway and Ford calls it "exceptional fuel economy" The MM was rated 17/24 with a V-8. Ecoboost is not that efficient when compared to ours!!

17/25 365HP V6
17/24 304HP V8

Its more efficient bro, in every way.

Perhaps he meant, economical?

Perhaps he meant, economical?

Correct, that is what he is confusing economical vs efficient. A 4,000 lb sedan that has 365hp V6 TT GDI, runs the 1/4 in 13.7 and get 17/25mpg, is more efficient then a 4,000lb sedan with a 300hp V-8 that runs the 1/4 in 15.1 and get 17/25. Their fuel economy is the same but by the numbers the SHO is more efficient.

Exactly!! More bang for the buck with the same fuel economy as the MM.
Sadly, most folks will only look at the MPG and scream GUZZLER

The only problem I see is that they say "power of a v-8, thirst of a v-6" I suppose if they meant v-6 from the mid 90s :D. I'd still rock one though

+1 on that, Dan.

IMO, the new SHO = fun + reasonable mileage.

Now if Ford could just get the MSRP lower for the vehicle...

Who cares how "efficient" it is? I don't that's for sure.

I don't care if they got if they install the 2.0L engine from the Focus in the SHO and get it to 365HP and 17/25 MPG. It still wouldn't impress me to the point where I would want to buy it.

Yes, to have added power over the Marauder is nice but getting the same MPG with the same premium fuel isn't impressive especially at the high cost of getting such a complicated engine with expansive parts that will make long term ownership scary.

Yeah, lots of GOOD points here as always...didn't the GOV'T also change the calculation formula's since our MM's came out -- in other words is much more STRINGENT in terms of what they can list/claim for MPG both in City and HWY??? (NOT a huge factor but one none the less and just a sign O' the times..) I just pray there's NEVER a time when I'm forced to rely on MPG figures in ANY Car or truck buying decision -- NEVER to a damned Hybrid "SURRENDER Box!"

My question is, If you can afford $40,000+ SHO (or any other $40,000 car) are you really that concerned with MPG? I would think one could afford the gas. If not that person would buy a Chevy Aveo and not a $40,000+ car of any brand. So I would think MPG would not be an issue with this type of car buyer. Was MPG an issue with your Marauder? Not me. Is it more economical and or efficient than a Marauder? I would not give a hoot. If I could afford a $40,000+ vehicle, economical, being efficient, and MPG would not enter my mind. Its just a cool fast BMW M series eating machine in my eyes!! I want one!!

Who buys a 365 hp car for economy? When you buy performance, you expect to pay at the pump!

I don't know why some think that the SHO is a sports/ performance car.

It's a tank and it doesn't even come close to having the sinister look to it like a Marauder does. It looks more like a Toyota than something that can be called "sport/ performance".

Also, for those who claim to careless about MPG, Ford's sees it differently.

I have yet to see an ad or a commercial for the SHO with out the stupid claim "the power of a V8 with the economy of a V6."

I really admire Ford's decision to bet on themselves for the future telling the Gubmint to stuff their "help." I also admire the increased build quality of their vehicles and I love the utility of our new Edge Lmtd. However it is disconcerting that they still have no clue how to market a performance vehicle. Did they learn nothing from the Marauder? Dennis

i only worry about smiles per gallon. i have never cared what the mpg is for any car I ever bought as long as it was what I wanted as far as looks and ran good enough to get it home so I could fix it up better! I was happy. I have owned some of the big tanks from the 70's so to me the marauder gets great mileage compared to oh lets see my old 73 lincoln or my 4 door 78 grand marqie. just give me the smiles per gallon, please.

Different things for different people . It is good it gets that good of mileage but if I am going to spend in that area of money, that car is not one I would consider. I just don't see it.
