Now that all the details of Marauderville 7 are wrapped up - the IMS pictures should be in your hands by now - it's time to offer a number of Thank You's to many people that touched our 7th annual event, even in a small way. MV7 would not have been possible without many helping hands.
A huge THANK YOU to James79Stang, James Grimes, for hauling an overwhelming number of door prizes up from TX with him and his wife, Laura. Dozens and dozens of great car detailing accessories - two large boxes full!! I had no idea he'd bring so much when he mentioned to me he had a few things to contribute!!! Blackened300A - Paul Hohvart donated a Carlisle t-shirt and godshead cap. MartyO - Marty Ochs donated some MO Speed t-shirts to the door prize raffle. Thank you!
We were thrilled to be reunited with our Indy friends, Kenny Brown and his wife, Cari Southworth. Those attending Marauderville 2 remember their Open House and BBQ at the shop. It was great to see Kenny's health has improved and his excitement about being around Marauders again. Through Kenny's and Cari's help, their friend and former employee, Dave Adney, joined us at the car show as one of the judges. Yes, Dave has an eye for Detail!! Kenny had to dust the cobwebs of his signature and many took advantage of that.
It was a treat to host Steve and Carol Babcock, who arrived on Saturday just in time for the car show. Carol had just flown home to Detroit from Dallas at midnight on Friday. What a trooper! Steve, with Carol by his side, stood in the parking lot at Forest Park until dark, well after the car show ended, talking about Marauders to the Cartwrights - KBMarauder - because they weren't coming back to the hotel. We were the Marauderazzi, flocking around Steve with metallic pens instead of flash cameras, peppering him with questions and listening to the great stories of the Birth of the Marauder for most of his time with us. Couldn't you tell he was loving every minute of it?
We were honored to have one of our former members surprise us all by joining us at MV7. Mac "SergntMac" Mc Carthy, who many may remember owned 3 Marauders, especially the Kenny Brown 1.X, was also one of the judges at the car show. It was great to see Mac again and I know he looks forward to attending more regional meets....maybe he'll bring Lulu, his Shelby GT!
We had a phenomenal meal at the car show, provided by Shoup's Catering. To top off a great meal, our very own friends, Carol and Marv Wojciechowski, owners of Breadsmith in Palos Heights, IL, provided a delicious selection of brownies and cakes.
To the great staff at Cambria Suites Noblesville including Lou Anne Willis, director of sales and Mark Kuiper, general manager. They were so excited about our visit. How about that function room for our full stay and our own parking area!
Mike Heckman - MM2004 - was in charge of organizing the Raffle. He tapped into the generosity of our Supporting Vendors to offer some great prizes. Many thanks to Lido Iacobelli of Alternative Automotive, Jay Tucker of JLT Performance, Wes Chain of Innovative Interceptors, John Kuhn of Pops Stereo and Tommy of Sparta Performance. Marty Ochs - MartyO, and MarauderJack - Jack Howison donated Marauder fender badges. Tipton Lincoln Mercury donated two diecast models. MM.Net also donated the Michael Irvine "Marauders of Woodward" print, a Marauder Zippo Lighter, Mercury Marauder wooden oval plaque and a Mercury Marauder "Rebel with a Cause" banner.
Through the continued donations of our Members and the support of our vendors, MM.Net was able to keep the registration price reasonable, while including lunch at the car show, Sunday breakfast and admissions to the Zoo and the IMS Museum.
Last, but certainly not least, I personally want to thank my planning partner, Dan "MercMan", for helping me steer this ship called Marauderville 7. He single-handedly found the hotel and worked closely with the great staff at Cambria Suites Noblesville to make our stay a great experience. He also worked very closely with the staff at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to secure our lap at the track. Without his help in all aspects of the event, I would have been overwhelmed. Thank you, Dan!!
A BIG round of applause to all involved. If you missed Marauderville 7, keep an eye on plans for Marauderville 8!!
