My father is the original owner of his 01 Mustang Cobra. It has a little under 10,000 miles on it. He called me yesterday and is commissioning me to pick a supercharger kit and install it for him. I am very mechanically inclined and have built plenty of engines and transmissions but I have not dealt with boost before. We want to get a complete kit that is going to have every nut and bolt. Performance, quality, and completeness of kit are more important than cost. Once we have the car upgraded I will have it dyno tuned, probably somewhere out here in the CAM area.

Anyhow he saw an advertisement for a whipple twin screw kit on the back of some car magazine and so he is all excited about that, but I don't really know what is out there for these cars. Oh yeah, it has to run on pump premium.

Thanks

Steve

The neat thing is that there are a number of Eaton SC available at very good prices from 03/04 Cobra owners who have upgraded to KB, etc.

That is the best option. Then if the '03-'04 Cobra OEM Eaton isn't enough it's easy to upgrade to a Whipple, KB, or now there is even a Vortech twin screw.

I need a new in box kit for this car and since this is my dad's car I want to do it once. With my own cars I love to try to make things work and constantly tinker but this has to be a complete plug and play kit with no missing parts or surprises.

In that case there are few options. I suggest either a Kenne Bell kit or contact Modular Power House and see if you can get a Mongoose Vortech kit from them. I dunno if you can still get a Mongoose kit since MPH is going to close up shop soon and regroup under a new organization in Chicago. Many other vendors will sell a Vortech kit, but the MPH system has some significant improvements over the standard Vortech kit.

The problem is that both of these kits use a single serpentine belt so you're limited because if you try to up the boost and power you'll have serious belt and tensioner issues.
