Airbrushed Hood Liner

[Donny Carlson]

This car belongs to a friend of mine who lives in Kennesaw. Joe wanted to do something unique under his hood, so he took off the liner, took it over to an Atlanta area airbrush artist, and had him paint on this image from a Led Zepplin poster. Wonder what group is Joe's fav, eh? I think it's a pretty cool idea, and it worked out quite well. The art is amazing.

Here's how it looked on Sunday when I got a change to see the car...

Very cool! It's the Swan Song (Zeps record label) logo. That's gotta be good for shows only - I can't imagine the heat is going to treat that paint very well.

Nice painting, but the hood liner serves a real purpose without it the hood paint will "Charr" over time and crack due to the heat especially in the South. Ever see hoods where the paint is gone and are all rusted - no hood liners.

Say what you want about that car but apparently chicks will ride with you in it...or so this pic would make you believe! Wonder how many dudes bought it for that reason back in the day just to be dissapointed...

Uhh, its from the Myth of Icarus. Not surprised if you don't recognise it, ancient mythology didn't get much class time back in the day, doubt it does now, too. That's where Zepplin got the inspiration for this image, which they used for Swan Song, their record label. It's not intended to be homo erotic, any more than any other classical painting or sculpture, which usually features naked or mostly naked figures.

Sorry, thats gay. Anything but a naked dude on my hood liner. Ive seen this kind of thing at shows before and always thought, "whats the point".

mercury god head = cool
trilogy logo = cool
V-8 symbol = cool

Naked dude = not so much

But to each his own
