i have seen several MM's cheaper in the upper States of our great Country.
than in Florida and Georgia.
LANDY
Maybe that's because this is where the majority of them are.
it may also be the fact that some get driven through the salt during the winter, this makes all the aluminum & the underbody look like sh**

There is no rust on my MM, but this is California.
We wear them out as they do not take the long winter rest.

The aluminum in the engine compartment is like new as is the under carriage aluminum and suspension pieces. No winter snow and road salt makes a huge difference.

No rust. Need we say anything else?
I bought a car from Seattle, no body rust but lots of undercarriage rust. This MM, same age as last car, no rust.

Growing up in Wisconsin, if you wanted a really clean classsic car, you ended up with one from California or the Carolinas unless you could find one that was garaged in the winter. All the DD's tended to rust badly due to road salt.

the motor sure sounded good this morning in -35 weather gotta love tht cold engine rattle.
I won't comment on prices of MM's as they are not inexpensive in Canada where I am, however if anyone wants to make the underside of their MM look like new, get yourself some CD2 engine detailer, works great on the engine bay, plastic, rubber, aluminum etc...I use it underneath when detailing my rides as well. I have to visit the U.S. to buy it but I don't mind. Works wonders and dust and sand etc.. don't stick to it.

Gotta love my car roasting the cold tires when I hit it at 50 mph and dry road!

Do it at 95MPH like my mishap last January I posted about and you be officially afraid to have fun again till you see 85*!
If I drive in the winter time I definately pay the extra for the undercarage wash at minimum twice a week. So far so good, still looks great underneath!

I've had to just recently drive my MM in the snow. I am planning on getting it off the road ASAP, just gotta fix the daily.
Planning on doing two under body washes to the car, then having it underbody-sprayed at the dealer around here.

I think i'm just gonna turn mine into my winter beater this year. The Escort needs snow tires BADLY that I don't have the money for, and the Rauder is cutting right thru the snow like nobodys business with the awesome snow shoes I recently bought from a member!

I agree with the salt/rust problem 100%. No snow here, no salt, less rust. Here are a few additional points worth mentioning:
I know that here in GA, Atlanta commuters have the longest average commute in the country. I once had a job driving 78 miles to work each way. Without snow and with good roads (no freezes), I just made sure I carried plenty of cassettes. Georgia has some of the best roads and highways in the nation. It's nothing for me to put a combined 20 or 25k a year on my vehicles. Even the monthly breakfast with the Marauder gang racks up more than 100 miles for me.
Also, the south doesn't have unfriendly weather where people park their nice cars for months on end (unlike NY where my folks are from). We drive our collector cars all year long. Didn't you have the sunroof open this past Wednesday?? I did. The weekend of Thanksgiving, my nephew's car was in the shop so he was driving his Model A for 4 days.
Between the good weather, good roads, and long commutes, cars are commonly driven many miles in the south. My Marauder is the first vehicle I've ever bought with under 100k on it, and I've been driving 24 years. High miles means lower value.
Just my 2 cents...

well I am from philly and there is a ton of those marauders up here I know a guy selling one for 6000 with 133,000 on it and my friend just bought one for 7000 with 138,000 on it and there is a blue one with 74,000 miles on it for 9,000 there all over i am actually getting tired of them because people dont take care of them you would think they are crown victoria

I dunno if they are cheaper up here or not. All I know is that mine has been stored winters from day one, still has all the undercarriage factory markings,, seldom seen rain has only 21k on it and when I had it for sale for 14,000 dollars, with and ESP plan, nobody was interested. I'd say up here they don't sell. Just my 2 cents

Yeah, I hear ya! SAME here...mines fortunately NEVER seen DD use NOR bad weather at all...I HATE to see it sit over these bad spells; but it makes it so much sweeter when you DO get to drive it again! :banana2: I think our soured economy has just FLATTENED interest in all vehicular toys... :(

14 Grand for 21k miles Marauder!? Stupid people around you for not buying it.
My MM just crossed 14k miles, and I would not even consider selling it for under $20k.

i agree about the snow and salt issue but, i bought mine in montreal...it has seen winter, not sure how many. i have 115000kms, underside is still great...it has been oil sprayed yearly.
Economics is about supply and demand. not many people here interested in full size domestic cars. most people think i put mags on a cab!

I can make the time. This Saturday, the 20th my old Taurus SHO club is getting together in Los Gatos. They are going to glad a drive around the hillside. I am going to do the drive to meet with them but must return tothe East Bay to attend a kid's birthday party. You are welcome to meet with us in the AM and join them for the drive if you like. They are a good group of car nuts.

I can't drive my car in the winter, too much freakin salt on the ground. I did drive it last year but went to the carwash just to get the underbody rinsed and I took care of the rest. Winters in the DMV are not too bad but the roads are salty. Miraculously, my Caprice has the cleanest undercarriage I've ever seen on a old Chevy despite being a G.M. rust bucket. As long as you rinse and treat your undercarriages your car will be fine, just wish everyone knew that.

They don't use salt here. They spray some kind of liquid goo on the roads and it's supposed to be alot less corrosive to cars. We only get about a week of snow a year anyway.
