Here's ours, either the snail is huge or the tree really that small. Either way I love my wife for putting up with my love of cars or as she puts it my Illness:blah:.

Just finished up with ours about an hour ago. Lots of memories on that tree with ornaments dating back to 1975 in Germany and all of the additions as the kids were growing up. Now the grandkids are starting to appear.

Sorry for the quality of the picture. My cameraphone sucks.

Materials:
~170 bottles of Rolling Rock, emptied and washed
2 sheets of 3/8" plywood
1 quart of Rolling Rock green paint (for the plywood)
3 pieces of 5/16" threaded rod
4 connecting nuts for the threaded rod
~10 5/16" nuts and fender washers
1 2"x4"x8'
2 strings of twinkle lights, 150 lights per string.

The threaded rod goes through the whole tree, using a washer at the top of each level to tighten it down. Nothing holds the bottles in place but it is remarkably stable. Beyond that, I think you can figure it out.

The lighting looks uneven because of the twinkle pattern, but it looks pretty killer in person.

Our tree. I tried two different camera settings. Thats why there is two pictures. If I could only find pictures of our tree I cut down from 3 years ago. It was between 14' and 15' high and about 8' wide and anchord to our wall. It was a monster. This one is only 12' and is not real. But no mess. Merry Christmas everyone.:xtree::santaw:

Wow!! I love the lighting on the 1st one with the reflection in the floor. Did you build that elevated floor especially for the tree? Looks like it sits on a 4" wooden platform.

Ha, Ha. Now I "see" the train. Must have given me that reverse image and I was only seeing the gaps between the cars. Maybe its time for some new glasses. ;)
