Thunder Road Raceway now AHRA

The modern but defunct Red River Raceway is now under new ownership and re-named Thunder Road Raceway Park in Gilliam, Louisiana, 20 miles north of Shreveport. The track owners have affiliated with the resurgent American Hot Rod Association. The track will resume racing in January 2010.

This new affiliation is a multi year contract and hopefully will be supported by the drag race enthusiasts here in the Arklatex. The AHRA is billing this venue as their flagship tract of the south.

Cool. Nice to have another sanctioning body in the game. NHRA has the big name big bucks teams. IHRA has the wicked door slammers, both pro-mods and mountain-motor pro-stockers. What's AHRA's claim to fame? I gotta read up on it a bit, thanks for the link.
