They seem to have in their minds that every aspect of American life needs to be under some form of government control. I have serious concerns with the direction this country is headed...

Brother, I agree completely. Way too many other things they should be focusing on. I just wish the focus would be on new jobs and greater economic growth. Everything will come along if those two are doing good.

And since I work in the health insurance industry, I am looking over my shoulder for when the axe is coming. We already only have a 0.8% profit margin. This coming year it will be under 0.5% profit margin. And now they are looking to charge us another almost $200million a year just for being in business. Supposedly to help pay for the health reform stuff. You cant get much better than 90cents of every dollar taken in paying for claims! Salaries and overhead have to payed somehow.

But I guess they want to tax us into that competition they talked about wanting. Why wouldn't you tax your competitor if you could?

Amen to that. The direction we're heading is sounding more and more like "Atlas Shrugged."

What are we gonna do about, all the government has to do is get an idea and have the senate and congress pass then convince the president to sign and its the way government wants it, we have little control over our country anymore, we might as well have socialism or a monarchy. I am very scared to see what 50 years from now is gonna be like if we continue down this path. Then again I fear the worst. Hopefully I am wrong and things change sooner than later.

The only job of legislators is to legislate. Gerrymandering has reduced the capability to 'throw the bums out'. Only Term Limits gives us any hope of having more responsive government, both locally and nationally.

There are some people here who voted for radical change the last time around. Hope they are 'happy' with 'change you can believe in'. Socialism combined with U.N. BS is not what I want. I am happy with the less is more philosophy of government and will vote for those who espouse that view -- that's why I cannot in good conscious stay in Maryland post-retirement. (Rant off)

John Galt. A man who would not let credit be given the masses when its due to one. But I prefer Roark's actions.

I suppose his fellow Texans are happy with him, since Texas is the team that most critics of the BCS claim shouldn't be playing for the championship.

If the Congressman would be good politicians and do what elected officials are supposed to do, drink whiskey and chase women, instead of coming up with additional laws on a daily basis,we would be better off.I just finished reading about their permanent bailout fund they are setting up as part of Financial Reform and run by one of the czars. Can only cause more job losses.:mad2:
