When Ford put this on ebay I believe it sold for $37,000 . It was over 4 years ago .

At that time ,if I remember correctly , it did not have a complete drivetrain, windows or top . They hadn't reinforced the chassis as is necessary in a convertible . Hence , not roadworthy .

It sure would be interesting to see if some future owner will eventually complete this great concept car .

ts-pa
12-18-2009, 10:13 PM
Since it is not roadworthy, I'd say that it would sell for less than $30k.

What no roof no windows a peanut motor. Looks like the sister to a Chrysler Lebaron. I 'll give them $50.00 to take it away. I will turn the raido up as high as it will play. Pick up the chicks from the vidio from ZZ Top as cruise the blvd for an hour. Then drive like I stole it. Maybe enter it in a demolition derby. After send the pictures to the designer with a note to consult the members of our forum if they want to build a real Marauder.

What are u talking about?...... the early to mid seventies cars looked awesome as verts. the Impalas, Caprices, Delta 88's, and of course the Eldarado's. I'd love to have a 76' El-dog or a 74' Caprice convertable. hell even a 73' Impala. Those slabs will always turn heads especiallly if there clean.

and yes that Marauder vert is a nice looking car, but what does it look like with the top up?..... was it a hard or a soft top? I dislike the rims.... what happened to the 5 spoke

IIRC, the concept car didn't have a top, whoever buys the car will need to engineer and fabricate one for it.

I would not even bother with a top for that car. I dont think you will be driving too far anyway with it since you cant have it titled. I would just slap on my license plate from my MM and enjoy some nice weekends driving around. Just throw a cover over it. I would not waste a nickel on a top. Looks too nice as it is.

Donny Carlson
12-20-2009, 12:15 PM
I don't think there will be much fun driving around, either. From what I recall, they pushed it on and off a trailer at shows, and crossed their fingers nothing broke. I read somewhere the EEC was programmed to limit top speed to 20 mph. This is little more than a show buck, maybe it can power itself around, but not in any form able to hit the streets. You tangle up with anything, fixed or moving, in this car, ther results will not be pretty.

This is just a collectable, trailer it to shows or stick in a museum or collection somewhere.

You'd be better off starting with a real production Marauder, cutting the top off at a conversion shop, doing the body work, maybe take some parts off the concept. Then you'd have a real, street legal and registered car that would look identical to the concept. For $100K, including cost of the donar car and predicted concept auction price, you could have a real concept vert.

Spectragod
12-20-2009, 05:38 PM

I'am sure the will be looking for considerably more.

Most likely not in this soft market, the car has no title, cannot be driven(allegedly), no top or side glass, it has a lot of strikes against it.

If you looked at some of the concept cars that GM sold, they ran, were complete, but if they were not able to be registered, they brought little to nothing. Granted, they were GM products, figured that they would have brought in more $$$.

I figure the MM concept car will bring 15-20k, I could be wrong...... we'll find out in a month though.

Yeah, that'll keep you out of trouble. The car has a VIN, I understand it is a CV VIN. You should be able to get a title depending on your state. The frame reinforcement, lack of glass and a top is where you will run into $$$$$$$, a coachbuilder should be able to help with everything but a title, probably 60-100k should make it 100%.

The Bid Goes On $50,000.00 High Bid
Alex and I went to the auction today here are some picks of the convertible
I spoke with the owner Peter and his wife very nice people. he admited he has visited the site years ago and found us talking about the car. I asked him all the questions and went thru the car, even sat in it. The owner said that he had the car gone over and spent alot of money and made the car driveable but it only has the bill of sale from ford he gave me a copy, the car is built on a 1999 CV, vin number should be in one of the pics and the seat belts are not functional the tops are just sewn in to the seat back, that is the reason the vehicle is not road worthy.
We left before the car went up on the block and I see it was not filmed on HDTV Mecum show those bastards.

Two things, I think the guy should have taken the 50k (but thats just me) and second, I dont understand why this car cant be registered/driven. A bill of sale is good enough for a title in Texas if all the paperwork is done. Seatbelts can easily be installed. Also, if you can regisiter a Bradley GT or one of those 2 foot high 32 Ford sedan ratrods (crap rods) where you have to lay down to drive them you should be able to register this car someplace.

The seat belt is the problem it can be done, and can be registered in some states, the owner did not take the 50K it will just go back in his collection that was not the only car he was selling that weekend.
