Heaps like this, and even worse in some cases, were all I drove prior to getting the Marauder. My '86 Suzuki Samuri (AKA "the Bazuki") springs to mind...

There is a certain fun/freedom in owning a car where you can just wipe McDonalds ketchup on the seats and keep on going.

The financial apsect was my main reason for driving them. While I certainly could have bought something nice, dropping $100 on an old Fairmont and occaisionally putting a new battery, cables, or water pump in it really helped me bank some serious coin. Try going 15 years without a single car payment sometime!

The biggest downside was chicks. They usually hated 'em. Not always though. I just had to find one that liked looking at me crawling around under the hood. She was a wreck too but hey, leaky, greasy, dirty, smoky wrecks are pretty fun. ;) :D
