Yahoo reports today that the IRS is unlikely to audit citizens that make under 200K. Whew, I squeaked by again.

I actually don't make that much, just ran into some fortunate circumstances (job wise) that allows me to buy "toys".

That and I have 1 wife for 20 years, no kids, multipul incomes, and my only vices are my house and cars.

I found out a long time ago you don't need big bucks to spend money like a drunken sailor, only 2 requisites:

Having SOME money.

Being drunk...http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/images/smilies/Drunk_emoticon_-_updated_again.gif

I've been audited 2 times, the first after complete re-filing for 6 years, it was found that the IRS owed me $10,000. They abruptly told me that they would not be refunding me that amount, because I had never filed for it. The other one is still on-going, (I think this one will turn out the same way), and should be complete by April. BTW, I'm a far cry from 6 figures.

Yeah, ain't it funny how that works. But owe them more than a buck-and-a-half and they'll come after you with guns blazing. :censor: goverment anyways...:mad2:

They really don't like it when you leave out w-2 income or 1099 income. The computers do a good matching job. I would guess that if your adjusted gross income is under $200k (meaning your gross income is likely $240k), they won't bother you unless something else is a standout (personal exemption for your dog, charitable deduction for $40k for donating your MM to the curch of the here-and-now). If you really crave attention, check the box saying you have a foreign bank account.

But if you owe... They can go back how ever far, ESPECIALLY... if they suspect fraud.

As Al might sarcastically say, gotta love it!

At least the IRS had a sense of humour the year I claimed my wife and I were blind, over 65 and handicapped.
