I have heard alot about this engine from the higher up's at ford. This engine is a complete departure from or well known modular's, new 4V heads and new block. Sounds like it's going to be a powerhouse can wait to see what they can do with some forced induction:D. So are you going to have to change your screen name to 2011VistaBlueGT

Nope, Ford is on to better things the heads on these are going to be the S**T. One good thing for anyone one looking to perform a conversion is the engine will be almost the same size as the 4.6 Dohc just a little taller deck height. Things are going to get interesting for us ford fans alot of cool things are in the works;).

Cars are beginning to be like computers, you buy the best this year and next year they got something way better.

It is still a modular motor, just a different block that allows for more cubic inches. As soon as the Coyote hits the streets the 5.4L is gone, all the bigger cubes will be made from the 302 block. Everything else bolts right up therefore if there is a PCM conversion kit for the Coyote 302 I might remain the same or if not my Ford dealer says he would give me a good trade in and I might become 2011KonaBlueGT. :D

That's the whole point of Modular motors. For example if you blew the motor in your part and got a good deal on a 4.6 3v out of a 05 -10 Mustang you can purchase FRPP part M-6017-463V which is a PCM, wiring harness, CAI and drive by wire accelerator pedal that allows you to bolt it up into any car. The physical parts like transmission and accessories will bolt up from block to block they're all the same. I'm hoping they'll have something like that to convert my car to a Coyote.

I was told it's out of the modular family as the block and heads aren't compatible with the older 4.6? I did hear the 5.4 is gone, in the ford toy chest they have slapped blowers on the new engine and I quote,"there is no need for the 5.4 with as much flow these new heads can handle power isn't a problem." unfortunately the f-150 will not have 5.0 there getting eco-boosted, f-250 and up will get the boss or a new diesel engine.

I haven't heard anything about them not being compatible, I've heard about the F-150's being Ecoboosted and getting the 302 and whatever bigger cubes they're going to make out of it so I guess we'll all have to wait for the final word from Ford as we can see the rumor mill runs deep and my head is still spinning. Either which way Ford is making some big moves to put the hurt on the competition and that makes me....

They already have a 4.2L V6 as the base engine

+1, seeing the advancements in power the last few years has made me overjoyed and heartbroken at the same time. Truly the speed game is getting to nothing more than a question of income. :(

Speed question has always been a question of income. You need money to buy go fast goodies!

true, but you either needed to know what to do to get them on or who to go to for likewise. Now, you go to the dealership and buy "fast".

One thing I can say for why older vehicles will ALWAYS have more appeal to me than newer in terms of power: I think I will ALWAYS want to have a fast car that I made that way, not someone else. a factory package 450hp Mustang/Camaro/Challenger or 350hp 370Z or the like will NEVER give me that pride.

Unless it's been canned, the F-150 is getting a diesel. Somewhere in the 4.x liter range and the Raptor is scheduled to get the 6.2. Ford had prototype diesels in the F-150 back in '06.

I like the "5.0" on the side instead of "GT" and the new motor but as far as looks go. It just an ordinary looking mustang which is cool. Non of the added on cladding and graphics. A sleeper you could say.

So does that mean we can once again call the 5.0 a "Windsor" motor???

Mod motors are made at the Windsor engine plant, so assuming the 5.0 is built there, yep, it would be a "Windsor." :)

Ah, I was unaware that the mod was made at windsor....word on the street is they're bringing the Cleveland plant back on line too!

just read a big article about the coyote - will need different rods to take any kind of forced induction
