I would like to know from any members here if you have a Home Security system.
Was it worth it, cost, and peace of mind?

Have you tried it out as far as a response from local authorities?

How much did you pay for it (ranch/2 story/walk out basement etc) and its monthly fees?

Did you have one installed but do not use is as often you hoped to because its just not convenient?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Yup. Big +1 on the 12 ga. Short barrel with #4 shot makes for a real bad day for an intruder.

I can tell you get the outside siren, runs about 150 extra. It gets everyone looking they even come outside to see. Mine runs about 35 bucks a month. As for response times Being a LEO I can tell you alot of that depends on the department taking the call.

Homemade alarm system, I installed it when I had the house built. With a K9 officer 2 doors down I don't have it monitored except for the dialer.
M1911, Colt 1903 gatt and 12 ga. riot gun. I suggest #7 birdshot as it won't penetrate drywall but does tend to dimple flesh a bit...

If you're on a budget, string with tin cans and rocks will work. And a baseball bat. Very gratifying that bat is....

a Rottweiler, Black Lab, S&W Sigma .40 and a 12 Gauge Remington 870 loaded with alternating 00 Buck shot and 3" magnum deer slugs :2thumbs: never had anything in the sense of a true security system (like from brinks or lifepoint or whatever its called now) plus dad's a LEO, so having his car parked out front while my CVPI is beside the house seems like a good deterrent :D

3 layers of defense.

Home security system with montoring and cell phone dialer.

3 dogs weighing a collective 300 + pounds.

A heavily armed home owner.

I have plenty peace of mind.

Just sayin'....

MarkUnfortunately No outside bells or sirens here in Las Vegas. "County ordonese" But cameras, DVRs, Big dog. And 7@1 short barrel 870 express seams to be working. Oh cameras are internet accessible witch is nice. Many choices available, costco for one. IMOA:cool:
