when switching over to the eaton, the throttle cable must be rerouted. this makes the cable too long or it could be that the cable attaches closer to the TB then before. either way it caused the pedal to "sink" and was practically on the floor as the cable had about an inch of slack. this was really unsafe as the gas pedal now sat an inch below the brake pedal and you had to pull your foot back to get onto the brakes. it was also very uncomfortable and annoying. so i finally decided to do something about it. all i did was wake a piece of steel, bend it in an L shape to the appropriate size and drilled a new hole for the cable to clip into. it wors perfect, and has just the right ammount of slack now. the pics are form my cell phone so forgive the quality.

what it used to look like

Great Idea! You dont find the gas pedal to stiff with the throttle return spring hooked up?

Nope, do you have an aftermarket throttle body? I hear the built in spring is a lot lighter on them.

So did you use the MM cable or the Cobra cable?

Some sanctioning body rules require the second return spring. I don't know of anybody being called our for it, but rules are rules.

Does the cobra have the spring from the factory? There was no hole in the bracket for a spring. When I first set the car up I loped the spring to the plastic tab on the end of the cruise cable. The pedal felt to stiff with it.

Brian, you saying I need another spring?

No, there is one on the throttle body.

My understanding of the rule is 2 springs are required in case one fails.

Thanks Dave, That's a real nice way of solving that problem. As you know, I'm going with a Mach 1 intake, so our TBs are close. I had modified my Markviii throttle cable and bracket to work with the 1st gen mark intake, but now that I'm now going Mach 1 intake/tb I plan on using the MM throttle cable and try and make it work. I already have the Mach 1 throttle cable bracket, so I may have to modify mine similarly. Thanks again for posting this.

i have a cobra throttle cable i was going to try and use, but did this before it showed up. i think ill leave it as is now instead of messing with it. if you wana try and use a cobra cable i could sell you this one, or at least get you a length.

OK Dave.
Let me get the motor back in the car first...lol.
Work/weather has been slowing things down.
