Wow... How time has changed, I tell ya traffic seems to be moving a lot smoother then, than it does now!

No traffic lites or rules that I can discern, just VFR.

Horses, cars, carts, trolleys, wagons, bicycles, pedestrians all moving in sync.

Women all had big hats, men all had suits or coats and they all wore hats too.

Car's looked cool, soft suspension, open air, HOV.

Thanks for bringing a little history to us.

Can you believe that was destroyed in a day and then rebuilt.

A stalwart folk, I must say.

That was awesome. Pretty much a "free for all" back then but seemed to be no problems with the traffic. You could tell that some folks knew that they were being filmed as the camera was probably as big as a Corvair. LOL.

I had that saved from Youtube for a while; fantastic music and super interesting video. Watched it enough times to compare it with google streetview and only recognized one building on the left side of Market St. and the Tower Bldg at the end of the line as still being there today. I read someplace the photographer hired the car drivers to circle around to make it look like there were more cars on the street (ie more cosmopolitan) and thats why if you notice its the same few cars zipping around. Another thing that really makes this a fantastic video is that compare it to every other film youve seen from back then, all the people are running around like Benny Hill, this film has been slowed down enough so the people are walking at a natural speed, making sort of a time machine look at the past. Another thing, everyone in this film is now equally dead, from the rich guy being driven around to the horsecart drivers to the kids selling newspapapers. Oh yeah, try to spot a fat person.
