You may recall I had Mike Lavallee paint my fuse box cover on my Challenger in True Fire. Since then, Mike has had several of my engine parts in his shop for an underhood Killer Paint project, all of which are still there as I post this. I think you'll be impressed with what he is doing for me.

Anywho, there's a Challenger owner that lives near Mike's shop in Washington state that hired Mike to paint his car in the first time use of "white fire" on his black Challenger. It also included some minor engine bay paint, not on the scale of mine.

Speed Channel was at Killer Paint this weekend shooting a show about Lavallee, and specifically it featured this guy from Maine who bought a Chevy pickup, had it shipped to Killer Paint, and Lavallee did custom interior and exterior work plus paint. The show will feature the reveal of this truck to the owner. Other Killer Paint customers and their rides will be in the show, including the Challenger dude, and they were interviewed about their Killer Paint experience. As an aside, I learned that only 3 cars east of the Mississippi have had Killer Paint do work on them, and moi is one of them.

I got an email today from the Challenger owner, and in part it said:


Fun day today. We each got interviewed on camera about our Killer Paint experiences. I even worked your story in.We'll see how much of it makes the cut. Or if I make the cut at all

By my story he means the fact that after I sent in the parts I had some health issues, plus the fact I'm a Challenger owner like him, we shared some ideas for our project, and I'm only 1 of 3 cars East of the Mississippi.

May never be mentioned, but I whoop it up if it does!

In this shot, you can see Abel shutting the door on the truck. Abel is the only person at Killer Paint I've not talked to. I've talked mostly to Nick, their shop manager, talked to Mike Lavallee a few times (once or twice I've called well after hours to leave a voice mail and Mike has picked up, though I think it has to do with caller ID and he answers if you are an established customer, still, it was after closing time!), and even Zach, but never Abel. Seriously, Mike is just a regular guy, always friendly.

I know Mike hasn't painted them, but that doesn't mean they haven't been prepped. My understanding is he does the airbrushing, but his assistants prep the parts for him, then they clear coat it and get it ready for shipping. They just got the billet disks in a few days ago, and there's a "stage 3" being discussed right now I may go ahead with now instead of what I planned for a couple months from now. Seems logical to get it all done now rather than send up more stuff later.

The name of the show I don't know, it may be a special, may be a new show. I'll find out what it is and the air date in advance and post it up.

To give you some idea of what it will look like, the two radiator cover panels are being painted black, then True Fire will be coming out from where the hood latch is located, spreading along the front of the radiator, and ending where those custom disks are going. On the other side of the radiator, the Mopar Cold Air Intake tube will be bursting with Blue Fire, the blue Omega M logo and MOPAR will be blazing in blue fire, which will turn to regular True Fire as it moves back towards the engine. On the left, the ABS cover, which is painted to match my car's color, will be True Fired with a Killer Paint logo bursting in flame. Behind this is the fuse box cover already painted in True Fire. The windshield washer reservoir billet cap will have whisps of True Fire. On either side of the engine, the half covers (that say 6.1L HEMI) will be painted black, then the OEM lettering replaced in OEM colors (Red and Silver). True Fire will be added to these, the 6.1L will be engulfed in flames, the HEMI will be catching on fire. The billet aluminim catch can will be in True Fire, flames reaching around towards the left side half cover.

Phase 3 includes them adding True Fire to the top of the billet Power Steering reservoir (all these billet parts except for the catch can are anodised black with engraving), whisps of flame to the oil filler cap and power steering fluid cap, and a new coolant bottle will be painted to match the car (a "level" window will be masked out so you can check coolant level), and it will be true fired.

The effect will be the engine ablaze in flame, welling up from the hood latch if front of the radiator, spilling across and catching the intake tube, abs cover, fuse box, catch can, half covers, power steering reservoir and coolant bottle.
