Hello all,

I will be widening a pair of wheels this spring and I'm shopping for rear tires. These are the candidates:

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS 295-45-18
Nitto NT555 Extreme Performance 295-45-18
Nitto NT05 295-45-18
MT ET Street Radial II 305-45-18

My car is a daily driver in the summer. It will see the occasional rain. I don't go to the track often (1-2x/season). I'd rather have maximum grip on the street instead of the track. Who here is running any of these tires on the street and what's your opinion on them? Are there any other tires I should be considering?

TIA,

from past experience,if it will see rain, do not go with drag radials.
maybe the nittos 555, or the good years.

They might be a little noisy but the nittos are too soft and they wore out faster

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies so far. Here's a little more info on my driving style. Like I said, the car is a daily driver, so it goes to and from work, 95% city driving. Barely any highway driving, but if I do go to the track it is an hour away on a highway. I do get on it @ stoplights if someone's feeling "froggy" and wants to jump, so I'd like to have that grip off the line.

I know the 555s are the tried and true tire that's been around for the longest. I'm hoping merc will chime in because I believe he's currently running the Nitto NT05s on the street. And I've read a lot of positive reviews on the MT ET Streets, but they're dicey in the rain and probably wear the quickest but has the most grip. Right now I'm leaning towards either one of the Nittos or the MTs.

I don't think the size for the G-Force will work, it only comes in 295-35-18, which is too short a tire.

For whatever it's worth...

I went with Nitto 555, all around and love them...

You might run into clearence issues with the 305's, my 295's required some grinding of the shock mounts to get them just far enough inboard to clear the 295's...

Good Luck

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, I love mine, they are great warm weather tires. They handle rain extremely well and have great manners with little to no road noise.

But they are worthless this time of year, they dont handle the cold temps well and any snow or ice of any sort makes your car worthless. But they are High Performance Summer Only tires. I expected them to be a bit hinky in the winter.

I have the Nitto 555's on Mine. After you put some wear on them lets say 40-50 % they don't grip very well. Also they are a Harder riding tire. They do wear well/ even and from what i've heard in the past will last quite a long time.

Nitto NT555 Extreme Performance 295-45-18. Will these work on 300b with T/C and stock front tires.
