View Full Version : I'll Miss My Friend Offroadkarter

Ms. Denmark
01-11-2010, 07:11 PM
Just received word that my friend Offroadkarter (Ryan) is no longer able to participate here in our forum. Don't know the particulars ( and am not interested in debating them with anyone) but I do accept the fact that apparently he is gone. That said, I could not let the chance go by without saying simply that Eric and I know him, like and respect him and have spent time enjoying his company. What a smart guy, with a wonderful sense of humor. (Those of you who have met Ryan know what I mean.) We will surely miss him here. We wish him well. And we will definately plan to keep in touch. ;)

I met Ryan a few times at E-town and he was hysterical. I dont know what he did to be terminated, but I never found him irritating.

Ill miss him.

It honestly didn't strike me as "racist", my wife's African American, and, I can say she is more African than anyone on this board (she has a green card), you ought to hear what she has to say about "her" people. There's no way she could post on this board without a perma-ban. My opinion is that some people are way to sensitive. I've never met Ryan or most anyone off the board, I am not biased one way or the other, it's the internet, people need to quit being so serious.

Once you get older..... you relize that words have little to no meaning.

If the comments that I read would get someone "knocked out" then is sounds like there are other issues at hand. Ever hear "stick and stones may break my bones", sheesh, relax, nobody singeled anyone out, but apparently there are those that feel they need attention, and let everyone know that they were offended.

Taking things a lot less personal will get you a lot further in this world, just FYI.

Don't believe it would be offensive to anyone here?
http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58482

Further, how many times have threads contained the word "gay" as a demeaning thing and rarely, if ever, get locked?

But when someone returns from a time-out they should have enough brains to know they need to tread lightly. The temporary vacations are meant to be a warning to not contribute to problems of any sort or the next vacation may be permanent.

Two women are on a transcontinental balloon voyage. Their craft is engulfed in fog, their compass gone awry. Afraid of landing in the ocean, they drift for days. Suddenly, the clouds part to show a sunlit meadow below. As they descend, they see a man walking his dog.

One of the flyers yells to the figure far below, "Where are we?"

The man yells back, "About a half mile from town."

Once again, the balloonists are engulfed in the mist. One flyer says to the other, "He must have been a lawyer."

The other says, "A lawyer! How do you know that?"

The first says, "That’s easy. The information he gave us was accurate, concise, and entirely irrelevant."

A stingy old lawyer who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness was determined to prove wrong the saying, "You can’t take it with you."

After much thought and consideration, the old ambulance-chaser finally figured out how to take at least some of his money with him when he died. He instructed his wife to go to the bank and withdraw enough money to fill two pillow cases. He then directed her to take the bags of money to the attic and leave them directly above his bed. His plan: When he passed away, he would reach out and grab the bags on his way to heaven.

Several weeks after the funeral, the deceased lawyer’s wife, up in the attic cleaning, came upon the two forgotten pillow cases stuffed with cash.

"Oh, that darned old fool," she exclaimed. "I knew he should have had me put the money in the basement."

Q: How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?

A0: Three; one to do it and two to sue him for malpractice.

A1: It only takes one lawyer to change your light bulb to his light bulb.

A2: You won't find a lawyer who can change a light bulb. Now, if you're looking for a lawyer to screw a light bulb...

A3: Whereas the party of the first part, also known as "Lawyer", and the party of the second part, also known as "Light Bulb", do hereby and forthwith agree to a transaction wherein the party of the second part (Light Bulb) shall be removed from the current position as a result of failure to perform previously agreed upon duties, i.e., the lighting, elucidation, and otherwise illumination of the area ranging from the front (north) door, through the entryway, terminating at an area just inside the primary living area, demarcated by the beginning of the carpet, any spillover illumination being at the option of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) and not required by the aforementioned agreement between the parties.

The aforementioned removal transaction shall include, but not be limited to, the following steps:

1.) The party of the first part (Lawyer) shall, with or without elevation at his option, by means of a chair, stepstool, ladder or any other means of elevation, grasp the party of the second part (Light Bulb) and rotate the party of the second part (Light Bulb) in a counter-clockwise direction, this point being non-negotiable.

2.) Upon reaching a point where the party of the second part (Light Bulb) becomes separated from the party of the third part ("Receptacle"), the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall have the option of disposing of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) in a manner consistent with all applicable state, local and federal statutes.

3.) Once separation and disposal have been achieved, the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall have the option of beginning installation of the party of the fourth part ("New Light Bulb"). This installation shall occur in a manner consistent with the reverse of the procedures described in step one of this self-same document, being careful to note that the rotation should occur in a clockwise direction, this point also being non-negotiable.

NOTE: The above described steps may be performed, at the option of the party of the first part (Lawyer), by any or all persons authorized by him, the objective being to produce the most possible revenue for the party of the fifth part, also known as "Partnership."

Q: How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Fifty four. Eight to argue, one to get a continuance, one to object, one to demur, two to research precedents, one to dictate a letter, one to stipulate, five to turn in their time cards, one to depose, one to write interrogatories, two to settle, one to order a secretary to change the bulb, and twenty-eight to bill for professional services.

An independent woman started her own business. She was shrewd and diligent, so business kept coming in. Pretty soon she realized she needed an in-house counsel, and so she began interviewing young lawyers.

"As I'm sure you can understand," she started off with one of the first applicants, "in a business like this, our personal integrity must be beyond question." She leaned forward. "Mr. Peterson, are you an 'honest' lawyer?"

"Honest?" replied the job prospect. "Let me tell you something about honest. Why, I'm so honest that my dad lent me fifteen thousand dollars for my education and I paid back every penny the minute I tried my very first case."

"Impressive. And what sort of case was that?"

He squirmed in his seat and admitted, "My dad sued me for the money."

An elderly man, upon learning of his terminal illness called his doctor, his priest, and his lawyer to his bedside. He handed them each an envelope and stated frankly "There is 50,000 in each envelope, upon my passing I want you to throw the sealed envelopes into my grave with me. Do not ask about my methods, please just respect my wishes." A few days later the man expired. About a month later the doctor, the priest, and the lawyer all run into one another at a bar.
The doctor looked at the other two men and said, "What did you guys do with your envelopes? I'm not going to lie, but I am ashamed to admit, he owed me quite a large amount in past due medical bills so I took 10,000 from the envelope and threw the rest in."
The priest looked at him and said, "I must admit I did something similar myself. The church was in DIRE need of a new roof so I took 20,000 from the envelope and donated it to the roof fund in his name."
The lawyer looked at both men and said, "You two disgust me. I can't believe you didn't follow his final wishes, I did exactly what he asked." The two other men looked at the lawyer in disbelief, "I wrote a check for the full 50,000 and placed it in his coffin at the viewing."

Dom stopped taking his meds and went ballistic upon his return by starting tons of 'blog' threads and 'Andy Rooney question' threads.
I started a few similar threads and they immediately got 'CLOSED'

Joe, I don't know how many times I gotta tell ya man. I'm not on meds, never have been and never will.

As far as your threads I don't know why they got closed, but I'm assuming it was obvious that you were purposely trying to be annoying.

BTW Andy Rooney would be the only reason for me to watch the news. ;)

I don't care who posted the photo of the Downs child with the caption " I can count to potato". But I do care that my wife broke down in tears when she saw it. See, her sister was hit and killed by a driver that wasn't paying attention. And yes, Joycee was a Downs kid with the sweetest disposition. But that's just me, I'm sure many found it just the funnest thing they've ever seen.

You know, oddly enough, we have a WalMart in one of our districts, it's in a nice part of town, lots of business's around, $150k+ homes nearby, and nearly once a week, we have a shooting/stabbing/robbery/assault and 1 kidnapping, everyone who commited these crimes has been caught, and guess what, 1 white guy in the whole bunch, I suppose WalMart is racist for allowing this to happen, or maybe I am for looking over some of the reports, but sometimes the facts are just that..... facts.

Not a clue why you would choose Wally World to perperate a crime like robbery, it just doesn't seem like the risk would be worth the payoff.

FWIW, cars is what brings all of us together, why are we arguing over something as trivial as this he said she said B.S.. And if we need to be sensitive to someone in paticular, then it should be made aware to us in their avatar or something so we don't hurt their feeling. The $150K figure is a condo, houses are all over 200k -5million.

And less than 5 miles away are trailers worth maybe 5-6k, but the problem they are having at that store, has more to do with thugs/wannabe's that jack a car to get there or ride the bus.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why this location is singled out, certainly not a lot of the locals shopping there, and robbing WalMart employee's sure won't net you a large payday.

Anyhow......... in before the lock.
