View Full Version : What is this truck worth?

Someone wants to trade me this truck for mine and here is what he sent me for info...

It has a calmini spring over lift with a shackle reverseal. has a harley davidson carb. Ive done some pretty extensive rust reconstruction. The bed area is made out of .065 diamondplate. The sides are .065 shet metal. The kick panel under the doors are 1/8 4x4 tubeing. I didnt build it as a show truck though. Its currently in rustolium. i planned on painting it this spring but ive lost interest. would rather have a truck. Let me know what ya think.

It looks like a lotta fun on top of cash. I'm guessing this will get better gasmileage than my car or truck and it'd be a fun winter beater, but I need to know if it has heat and a passenger seat.

Anyone know it's value? Keep in mind this has a full cage so it's pretty much built as an off road vehcile, but by the looks of it I believe it is still street legal.

What do you think?

BTW I should ask him the gearing. I know trucks built like this have like 5:13 gearing sometimes and can only go about 45 top end.

Its a POS. Why even consider it?

Looks like it's built minus the paint job, but the more I think of it the more I lose interest. It's an off road truck Paul. Different toys for different purposes.

That is a POS $800.00 suzuki with a homebuilt (and assuming unsafe) rollcage. NO. Now if it was a Bronco 11, then yes!

You are wasting internet space and my time. If you have nothing to add or advice to share do not post. I guess you have nothing going on in your life if all you care to do is just make fun of what is going on in mine. If anyone needs to get out more it's you. You deserve a vacation on here, but if only one person as a problem with you justice will not be served. It took months and many people before the MODS finally listened about a certian someone and I'll be damned if they would ban you simply because of me. I cannot believe I am wasting my time tying a responce to your immature attitude. I hope you aren't like this off the computer. Chances are you aren't, but ya wanna be. So why not just be a jerk on-line? All the cool kids are doing it!

Go to webmd and findout why you have been so crabby. Maybe you have crabs and that's why your pissed all the time.

Okay great. I didn't know that. I do not know too much about off road trucks. That was a useful responce. Thank you.

It is a Suzuki with, literally, a ton of diamond plate and roll bar welded in.
If it has the OEM engine....
expect it to be the slowest POS you've ever driven and expect to operate it at WOT all the time while getting about 8 mpg.
Huge tires require steep gears....if it has the OEM gears....

Well Joe that's helpful too thank you. I didn't know what I was getting myself into and wanted to know first. I think I will pass. Especially since I need cash more than a trade.

You know Dom, I read a lot of your posts ...

Why do you have to post a porno link? Just curious ... If this floats your boat, or whatever is, fine. If you feel the need to link it, at least tell folks it is not work/family safe.

It could be a lot of fun if done properly, but I sure as hell wouldn't trade your truck for it.

Dude, look at the address what did you think was there?

The thread has gone off track and onto the topic of sex if you have read everything. If you jumped from page one to this one I would understand.

If I posted a picture of the current topic I would be banned so the link was the best way to flow. I hope you didn't get caught wet handed.

There is a cult following for those vehicles and people spend a lot of money on them doing cages, tranny swaps, motor swaps, etc.

They are not my taste because I am too big for them, but look around on some of the forums for them to see what the pricing on them is.

Link still needs the phrase "potentially NWS." As for the Suzuki, you may have answered your own questions about it. You'll be trading one POS (figure of speech) albeit a known entity, for another POS which you really know nothing about, plus some cash you'd probably need to fix it. It'll be a horrid daily driver in an urban setting, if that's the way you're leaning. On the other hand, it may get a little better gas mileage than your Blazer. How bad is your Blazer, mechanically speaking?

The truck is fine. I really just need the cash and was going to selling my 65. If the little truck got better gas mileage I would drive it, but it looks like the type of truck that has to be trailed to the trails. Something I'm not really interested in.

I had one of these. Spent the whole summer driving on two wheels. 'Zukes are perfect trail rigs but not great at too much else. Chicks dig 'em big time! Throw away the top, pick up your girlfriend and drive it through a creek (on two wheels) sometime and you'll see what I mean.

Also, you could be next to a cop at a stop light and literally go WOT and bang through all five gears and the cop wouldn't even notice! Lol!

Mine never went over 55 mph the whole time I had it. (Stock gears+ taller tires). The 1.3 liter engine makes about 30 hp. You'll never even notice it's there.

5:13 does NOT mean bad gas milage. Adding taller tires compensates for the gearing. Do not even consider driving this thing in the winter! An 80" wheel base+ high center of gravity+ soft top + heater designed for 3rd world conditions = death trap!

Never heard of anyone putting a Harley carb on one. Good idea though since a HD motor is bigger.

Home made roll cage does NOT mean poor quality. I weld better than anyone at my local repair shop and those people went to school for it.

These things are about 900% more fun to drive than any Marauder.

If you don't buy it, I might. Offer him $800.

You'll freeze to death, so offer him $700 and go buy some Gortex.

You'll need that roll bar. Those things are notorious for rollovers, even stock. That thing, forget about it. Especially to someone that's used to Marauder handling capabilities.

A guy was in front of me one day in town driving one of those. He had just taken off from red light and was maybe up to 25 MPH and swerved slightly rolling it on its side. Could be unsafe at any speed.

Lol! Try driving one these heaps on two wheels sometime and get back to me. Trust me, you can have just as much fun at 15 mph as you can at 115mph.

Heck, one time I had mine in the Mississippi River backwaters and had water running up to my ankles. Kept right on going! Fun is where you find it!

Actually no. This was a car related question and I got the responses I wanted. If it was a blog there wouldn't really be anything for anyone to discuss. We have three pages of it. So there! :P

John, by the sounds of it I think I would like the truck, but it doesn't sound streetable at all especially in the form that it's in. I might swing by anyway and I'll tell him you're interested. PM me your email or something and I'll forward it to him.

After further consideration, no. Not interested. There is absolutely no way I'd survive driving that thing back here from Chicago. Even in the summer.

Look, you wanted a "rat rod". Here it is. These were ratty from the factory. Now it's been rodded. You think it needs paint?! You are completely missing the point dude!!! Use mud, clay, sand, or cow manure instead.

This is what I'd do if I were you.

1. Dump the '65 on a Chevy Truck forum. Get cash plus a trailer.
2. Buy the sammy. Throw away the carpet, drain plugs, and top.
3. Attached trailer to Blazer. Load sammy.
4. Haul sammy out of Chicago and whip the living pi$$ outta it.

Use a length of heavy chain and quality padlock bolted to the floor and run it through the steering wheel to deter theft. Weld a cheap metal tool box to bed floor. Fill with 8mm and 10 mm wrenches and sockets. Add a BFH, some wire, duct tape, WD40, and a pair of vice grips.

Garbage bags will keep you dry if it rains.

Done deal. Be prepared to laugh yer a$$ off from having too much fun.
