I trust most of you saw my post a few weeks back about my sticking throttle incident.

I took the Maruader into the dealership today and they installed the new assembly. The replacement assembly had a perfectly straight throttle cable, no twists or kinks like my original one. Problem solved!

A regional Ford engineer drove out to inspect it personally. While they were fixing the cable they even replaced the wiper cowling brace that is sharp and has been slicing through some folks' cable trunkings. I didn't even bring that up, they went the extra mile and fixed it.

Anyway, just wanted to post publicly that Ford took care of the problem and really impressed me with their extra effort. Thanks guys! :D

The only drawback to the whole experience? Nobody even mentioned the increased rumble and roar from my Flowmaster 40s!

Did they mention if a TSB or other action is going to be issued over the problem?

No, that was not mentioned and I didn't think to ask. I really think, though, that this problem is one in a million. I just got a piece of cable that had a natural bend to it. The new cable is straight as can be, and I'd wager that all of yours are as well.

The Ford rep did take the defective part with him, though, so perhaps something will come of it.

I also asked my dealership's service manager about the Aviator and possible problems with the heads on the Intech V8s, but she either didn't know anything specific or didn't want to talk about it. She said she heard the delay in the Aviators was due to some type of steering problem. *shrug*

In any event, if I hear more about the throttle issue I'll let you folks know. For now, though, I'm happy that Ford was so responsive on this issue. I'm a happy customer.

I just had my throttle cable replaced (@ 8,600 mi) made it under the 3 yr in service date by a few weeks. I had just pulled into a parking lot when it started accellerating. I braked really hard, left a couple nice black marks on the pavement and shut it down. Restarted and took it right home then to dealer, it had a kinked/bent cable. Thanks to this forum I knew what it was...sure glad I wasn't in traffic.

Wow, I guess I wasn't alone on this. Glad it didn't cause you any more trouble than it did.
