This is my first post. Thanks to all for such an informative and very INTERESTING site! I've had my dark red Marauder for almost 2 weeks(230 miles) I had every intention of getting the silver one at the local dealer, which I thought was very classy looking, but after seeing both the black and dark red, there was no doubt which one to get. The color is very much like the "vintage burgandy" color used on most full size Ford products from my childhood in the mid 1960's and does not look "red" at all. The car is stunning with all the dark trim. Everywhere this car goes people compliment it and ask lots of questions. I truly LOVE this car!!

RedMM,

I'm tuned in to DTR right along with you..more deep burgundy than red. (Almost identical to 1989 Mark VII Midnight Red)
I think the Light Flint interior compliments the DTR a little better than Dark Charcoal, as it blends with the horizontal dot matrix dash trim panel that is so visually prominent. However, that's purely subjective.
I've put on about 1200 miles since delivery on Oct 20th.
You must be extremely strong willed (or bed ridden ?) to have only driven 230 miles in (2) weeks. Keep smilin'.

No black-out grill on the DTR?

RedMM

Hey Silver_'04! No black out grill on the DTR MM. I went to the dealer with the intent of getting the silver birch MM-very rich and classy color. I liked the way the dark red blended with the taillights and all the rest of the black trim. I actually didn't care much for the black grill on the silver and really did not like the look of the rear of the car. The taillights looked huge and very prominent in contrast to all the silver paint. The black MMs look fantastic with the dark light lenses, etc, but my experience with black cars in the past and the amount of upkeep needed sort of turned me away from black. I've seen one dark blue MM and that was my least favorite color, although anyone who bought blue will certainly have a limited production and highly collectable treasure down the road!! Since the black was the only choice for quite a while, I think it would be a very interesting poll to find out what the guys and gals on the sites favorite color would be-not necessarily what they purchased due to availability but what they love the best now that there have been 4 choices. I think the dark red would look fantastic with the dark charcoal interior, but mine had the light flint two tone(all the dealer had available) No matter what color people select-the car is a joy to own and drive(except paying for it!!) I'd also like to say thank you to the many of you who have taken the time to say "welcome to the site" or "good luck with the new car" etc. The kindness of the many fine folks on the site is very appreciated! RedMM

Hey RedMM, I am originally from your neck of the woods.

I've got a DTR here in NC and I love it. I had Zack do the badgeless grille thing for me and it looks great.

Heh, I get calling the mini-van a "truck". I do exactly the same thing with my wife's H***a. I could probably be able to call it a mini-van if I didn't like driving it too.

Red MM-I haven't seen a red one in person, but from the pics the red looks quite nice. I have the Light Flint interior and I really like it, makes the interior feel a bit bigger. Welcome.

RedMM - The Silver Marauder that I looked at had a silver grill.

the silver 03 at the local dealer had a silver grill, but the 04 had a black grill. (last year they also had an 03 Grand MarquisLS with one correct headlight and one Marauder blacked out headlight!!!! We laughed our butts off!! It looked like it was winking at you!!! Wonder how something so clearly wrong got out of the assembly plant!?!?!?
