The Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auction remained closed on Saturday as work crews continued to asses damage and clean up from high winds that destroyed two tents at the auction site in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Thursday night.
In a message posted on the Russo and Steele Web site, CEO Drew Alcazar said he would meet with consignors of the cars at the auction on Saturday morning. He added that the auction would remain closed on Saturday but that Russo and Steele would work to hold auction sessions on Sunday and Monday.
Alcazar said the auction site would not reopen to the public until it was approved by Scottsdale city officials.
During the storm on Thursday night, an 800-foot long tent broke loose from its anchors and blew onto a nearby freeway. Metal poles from the tent hit and damaged cars, while open-top cars at the auction received water damage from the rain.
Cars at the auction site received an estimated $1.5 million in damage, according to local media reports.
Other auto auctions in the Phoenix area--Barrett-Jackson, RM and Gooding and Co.--continued their sales on schedule.

What the hell happened?! It looks like a light pole fell on each and every car, that was horrible!

Whats the back story on this? Are these just damaged cars or did it happen at this event?
Never mind. It appears a tent blew across the lot and destroyed the cars. Estimated 1.5 Million dollars in damage.

That's what happens when people don't drive their cars and they treat them as an investment. It all happens at once instead of over time. If there is a God, that's God punishing them. None appear to be totaled so that's good. If they were driving their cars instead of selling their cars they wouldn't have been damaged. :burnout:
Still thats a chocolate mess. :(

That same thing happened to our Jeep Grand Cherokee while we were at the Kane County Fair Grounds. Big storm came. Big storm picks up big tent. Big tent flys thru big sky with big winds and big rain. Big tent lands on my Jeep and dents the roof plus scratches. Big sh**y experience.

Several years ago the National Pontiac Convention was held in downtown Tulsa among the tall buildings. Close by a couple buildings were being painted several stories up. The paint covered every Classic Pontiac in its way. I went to the show and there were some real classics there like a Hurst Grand Prix, late 60's or early 70'.s. A lot of them had to be repainted.

The severe roof damage on many cars will be very, very difficult to properly fix.
