I dropped my car to the body shop yesterday for a new paint job & headlight restoration. I had paid a little extra $$ to have the headlights, corner lights, rear tail lights & the valance panel on the trunk lid {license plate pocket panel} removed prior to any paint work & installed afterwards. The hood, roof & trunk lid was repainted once before under warranty from Ford (typical paint problem with 300A Marauders :shake:) with the previous owner, but I didn't think they did a real good job at it. It should be ready in a week.

35306
Bug damage from previous owner to the bumper cover ,header panel & fender corners.
35309
Paint chipping off of the body side mouldings.
35308
Rear bumper cover damage from previous owner.
35307
Second set of headlights with the dreaded fogged lenses.

Picked up my Marauder yesterday morning from the body shop for a new paint job in its original color. Overall it came out really good , but will be bring it back for some minor paint issues that I had them made aware of.

The filter I found recently to be the same length was sadly not a 100% replacement as the O/D of the inlet and outlet were smaller than the filter that came with the kit. I tried another filter from Napa (for a 1992 Ford Bronco 4.9L 6 cylinder. It fits a lot of other models but this is just one I decided to pick) and the inlet side is 8.133 mm while the outlet side is 7.910 mm so the outlet side wouldn't clamp down and make a tight fit seal. I tried a few different brands of FI hose clamps and all still yielded the same result, secure seal on inlet but semi seal on outlet. 8mm or larger is the key, I've got a few more filters to test out.

MuscleMerc filter vs the last one I tried
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a164/ctrlraven/20130820_184144_zps48a7715d.jp g

Napa filters, I had to cut the end off to match the length of the MuscleMerc filter and then flared the ends.

I got my Nitto Motivos installed yesterday on my DD, they are AMAZING. Installed a $20 single din Dual head unit I picked up from a friend. It has Bluetooth and steering wheel controls, so it will hold me over until I can shell out the dough for a good double din. Ran wires for the amp and realized that the one I was going to use is fried. Picking up another tomorrow to have another go at it. Even this crummy little thing produces sounds way better than the stock radio ever did. I've listened to a few songs already and thought I didn't know this particular track sounded this good

Should have mentioned this a couple weeks ago--

The MM stalled in parking lot and thru the code for the "fuel rail sensor". The local Dealerships said the car is 10 years old and don't carry parts for it no more--well crap----whats a guy to do.....so I got on Rock Auto--found new sensor in stock, ordered and in 2 days have in hand.

Since hadn't started in a bout a week , there was no gas pressure built up so it was an easy out and replace.

Its located on top left side of engine on teh rail--but did releaved pressure on the ride side just in case--

NO problems since then--guess that was a fix--How cool!!!

Brought my marauder home from curless auto along with my truck.

The marauder blew a belt and literally had pcs of it IN the procharger:eek: He found the root cause of the car blowing belts off, he also fixed some cheesy wiring and has more to do this winter.

The truck had been to two local mechanics to fix a vibration. Even after I had given them the same info I gave chris they couldn't figure it out. He also hooked me up with a new radiator, and new front brakes with vented rotors!! Good thing is he works for Xmas in a cup

Well when doing the SS brake line & fluid flush project I discovered both front inboard pads were siezed & wiped down to 25%. Only 50% of inboard rotor surface was working. This explains why the brakes have been performing so poorly.

No $$ for BigBrakes yet so fired up my ORiely account... New rotors & Carbon Metalic pads.

Had the new Nittos mounted yesterday so threw those on the front also. Monday she gets alignment with Carfixer's specs.

Then, as last weekend was "detail the DDs" I decided to detail the MM before heading to Roscoes next weekend.

Put her in the air a bit & did a thorough AquNil-X cleaning. Broke out the buffer & finished up my old bottle of RaceGlaze (have to find a bottle of something new to replace it!) Buffed till teflon slick and then fired up the "Cone" and did the front rims. Will finish tomorrow. :sleepy:

Like a lot of our Marauders my compass in overhead console doesn't work. Instead of repairing the compass I opted to go for the Grand Marquis mirror with the compass in the mirror glass. I've driven with it in the Marquis for so many years I feel that it's more natural to see the compass in the mirror as opposed to looking up at the overhead....maybe it's just me, but I think the overhead takes your eyes off the road longer. Hmmm now maybe I could install a Scan-gauge in the overhead :)

Not the Marauder but I worked on the fuel system on my fox over the weekend. Installed a Walbro 400lph. The Aeromotive Stealth 340 was crap. Now my fuel pressure holds all the way up without a BAP. Also had to completely redo the wiring plug/connector at the hat because they were melted.

Also did the "anti-venom" mod on the T56 I just swapped into it. The shifting on that transmission was aweful compared to the last 2 Terminators I owned. Turns out this little mod made the fox one shift like them. I can nail gears again.

Marauder wise the 3M headlight resto kit I ordered came in. When I get some time I'll take the head lights out and give them the love the need. The body of my MM looks AWESOME but the headlights look horrible. Looking forward to having them cleaned up.

Neat idea.

Thanks!

If you pull the cluster. There are 2 plugs that plug into the cluster. One on the left of the steering wheel and the other is on the right. The plug that is on the right has a white w/light green stripe wire. It will be #5, pull that wire out and back feed it through the harness. Splice in another wire and run it down the dash. Then find a good ground point and run a ground wire. Then just wire it up. Good Luck!

Went up to dad's house today to help him install new master cylinder in his 79 F-150, but I was also going to use the time to re-dip my wheels. I haven't completely decided one way or the other whether I want to purchase aftermarket black wheels. I like the fact with plasti-dip I can revert back to OEM chrome at any time. But this will do for the winter. I don't plan on driving it much in the winter but just in case if I have to head out, the plasti dip keeps much of the salt & road grime off.

Why do these LEDs produce significant heat? I have LED headlights and tail lights on my Hummer. the LED Headlights are Trucklite setup, complete bolt in replacement. the LED tail lights are Trucklite setup as well but sold through vehicle manufacturer so the proper connectors are on there and are complete bolt in setup as well.

really curious because I thought LEDs typically didn't get too hot that they shouldn't be left on too long.

These are higher wattage LED's... not a standard .25-.5 watt light. Hence the crazy brightness. See picture above... your LED's are not CREE LED's...

Revisited my prior rear bumper sag fix, made a few adjustments. Overall holding up very well.

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=75152&highlight=Bumper+sag

My adjustments was to remove the "wings" I made of fiberglass and reattach them with 3 1/8" pop rivets on each side. I recently noticed my sagging right below the tailights has become a bit more noticeable, after 2 years the trim tape I used to attach it had begun to come apart from the stress.

After a few days in our heat it should flatten right out.

I will down the road a bit. Need to save up for a set of rear suspension arms and Watts link. Doesn't feel too stable back there when I really get on it now.

I have the control arms and they make a huge difference with handling especially when you get on it around corners. Get them before the watts link.

That looks amazing. How much lower than stock are you? I'm guessing that's as low as the stock air bags will take you?
