Ordered a new sub for the car. Been stressing over a popping buzzing sound on every low note. I guess I should have tested that old sub I had in the garage for 6 years before I put it in the new car...

R.I.P. #1114 She was being shipped from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. to Bremen, In. when the car trailer was struck by a dump truck and rolled on I75 in West Broward. 5 years of gathering up parts wasted. Thanks to all who helped in my build. You lost this one because the next one will be better and that's speaking from experience. I lost two black ones in less than an 8 month span. Each were totaled and neither were in my possession (similar to yours). They say "the third one is a charm" and In my case, even though the guys ride on the DTRs, mines lasted 6 years before the engine failure. Cars break and at the end of the day, these moments occur when we least expect it but we don't stop because we truly love what we do. This doesn't have to be the last one for you. Don't keep rehearsing the negatives. You can move forward and build a better one. Like Just BoB says "build it, break it, build it better". [emoji482]

Added a trailer hitch. Not real stylish, but I need it now that I no longer have a truck, and it doesn't hang any lower than the exhaust tips.

Anybody here tow with their Marauder? I'm wondering if these cars have frame flexing problems, because the added cross brace seems to have stiffened my frame up quite a bit. I haven't added sway bars or control arms yet, but on the ride home I noticed the ass end of the car was less twitchy on bumpy curves. Has to be more than just the extra weight hanging off it...

Ordered new HID fogs, and ordered new front and rear slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads. Once this all comes in I will install along with the blower resistor and then get it detailed the day before Looseville.

Installed the Addco sway bar end links and CHE control arms the other day and what a difference! Can't wait for the trip.

I know it's like an extra crossmember, but I guess I just thought that the Panther platform, being a "full frame" car wouldn't have that much flex to begin with.

I'm considering a trailer hitch again.
Looked at RV's a couple weeks ago.
Found one manufacturer that had a ceiling height of 6'9" .
Aspen Trail by Dutchman.
The two mini models are 3150# dry.
The one that we got to go in at the show was 4100# dry.
The running joke was the campers are nicer than 90% of most houses!
Vibrating heated sofa?

The whole trailering package, hitch, receiver, ball, wiring, elect. brakes, load levelers, and sway control , totaled thirteen hundo.

Do you tow utility trailer?
Makes me a little nervous about the larger version RV.
I had set a goal of 3000# range but the
Model of choice is gonna be 1000 #'s more.
I would love to hear any feedback on
How the MM does with towing .

I have had one installed on my 2004 for about 10 years now. I have not towed a lot of weight with it. I have towed a 5X10 trailer somewhat loaded and it was not much problem. More than 2500lbs I would feel better with bigger brakes.

For now I just need to be able to use my utility trailer, but the plan is for a small camper (probably a pop-up) in the future. Brakes will get upgraded. I don't see the need for elect. brakes, and sway control on 3500 lbs, if you upgrade the brakes on it, and with the Marauder's self leveling RAS load levelers aren't needed. I'm old school, and remember going on vacation when my dad towed a 21ft Layton with his Electra 225. Sure the Buick had more power, but those old trailers were heavy as hell. Everything was solid wood. You just go slow and easy when towing.

Got it back from the body shop last Monday (had a small dent in the front fender repaired/painted). Now it's at my mechanic getting the front springs cut, camber bolts installed, alignment(carfixer specs) and rear lowered. It'll be ready for a road trip to Billing MT next week!

Only 2 or 3 weeks after my new stereo system I had to replace the subwoofer. Although I used all new components but one. That one used component just happen to be the JL Audio 12 " subwoofer that had been in two other vehicles, and I had sitting out in the garage for the last few years. Turns out the surround was dry rotted. The new sub sounds amazing. This is what I was going for. I had to clock it a bit so I wouldn't be going in the same holes, but am just happy that it fit in the old enclosure.

Shop- all four ball joints and upper control arms replaced. Me- Ford spark plugs, took out center console and cleaned crap off all the edges, replaced rivet holding front right lock actuator bracket with bolt and lock washers, the rivet was half disintegrated and vibrated out of the door, also had a rattle in the left door, it was a knife I lost four years ago, the factory sub used to cut out and stay buzzing if I went over a bump the right way in fewer than 60 degree weather, I literally just took the radio out, unplugged it and reinstalled...fixed (weird).

Floored it in an underpass. Jezus the Magnaflows sound freakin' great! I need to have someone drive it while I stand on a corner so I can hear it bark while not in the drivers seat.

I took off the Stainless Works muffs and put on baffled MF's. Too loud. Then I went with the MF Satin Series insulated straight throughs and it is magical.

It's fairly close, as close as I think I can get. I've looked at every modern'ish car at junkyards and this was the best headrests I've found so far. The color difference in the picture is because I conditioned the leather headrests, but not the seats.

Spent the day getting both the MM and the SHO ready for Carlisle. Wash, Clay Bar and Wax on both cars. I'm getting too old for this crap. Will probably leave most of the detailing of the engine and interior until next week. Sure hope all this rain blows out of here for the 3-5 June weekend. Yesterday was the first really nice day that we've had in the past 3 weeks. Maybe I should start working on building the Ark.

The calipers I bought were already painted black and had a nice finish on them so I decided to try leaving them black for a little while. I'll likely change them up again. I was thinking going with a graphite grey that matches the interior to give some contrast or a bright silver. I'll be looking at brake calipers to get ideas.

Finally got around to changing the spark plugs. Thankfully, they were original and have never been changed. The local Ford dealer the past owner used has a bunch of yahoo mechanics working for them. I'm sure they would not have blown the garbage out before pulling them and I'm very certain they would not have used anti-seize on the new threads.

The past owner was always having COP problems. Maybe because three of the COP electrical connectors weren't latching and were coming loose.

Judging by the other work they did on the car, it's a wonder the car survived this long.

I thought it ran fine before, but now, it's even smoother than it was before. It's like fine wine----it just keeps getting better and better. :D

The blend door motor took a dump on Saturday ....since the weather is crappy here I did it this morning at the shop I work at. Wasn't too bad it took me two hours. The new motor from Ford cost me $62 wholesale. I followed the sticky and it was pretty much right on, but would would add a couple steps...

1...I removed the steering column trim cover and metal knee bolster, and loosened the two column nuts and removed the dashboard mounting bolt on the drivers side. This lets you pull the dash that little bit extra for us guys that don't have small hands or skinny arms.

2...Using a 1/4" air ratchet will make life much easier in getting out the two front screws....I snapped the rear tab off and only mounted it with the front two screws. In my 15 years at Lincoln and Ford I don't think any of those rear tabs got used...never an issue.

3... On the right side vent tubing cut a slot in the top mounting hole so that you can start the screw before putting in the tube again. That makes it much easier than trying to start a screw in a blind hole.
Yes I cleaned out the tube, it was nasty inside.

It's gotten to where anytime my wife and I go anywhere, we take the Marauder. It's so much more comfortable and drives better than the other cars. Now, I only drive hers when it needs gas put in it.

Anyway, while we were in town, I stopped at the parts store. My wife stayed in the car. She said that, while I was inside, a group of people gathered around the car, until they realized she was in there (tinted windows.) She was freaked out a little until I explained that these cars are far and few between and they must have recognized what it was.

I don't think that's a bad thing.

After enduring several years of smoky startups coming out of the exhaust pipes & increasing amount of oil consumption on the Marauder, I had the engine valve stem seals replaced (Fel-Pro SS72888) with all related gaskets needed & a fresh oil & oil filter change. No more oily smoke coming out of the tailpipes & a full crankcase after driving 400+ miles in 2 days.

auto-rx can clean and recondition the seals... 126k no smoke

Filled trunk with wheels and tires to swap on to DTR

Silver 04
New coils, installed colex coil covers, did a blend door actuator for my first time ever on a panther. Start to finish 2.25 hours, didn't pull the dash
Bought a power mirror to repair this one
Went to do the BCM and it fixed itself, hoses are in the way since it has extra hoses compared to the other 2 cars

DTR 04
Bought a new rear spoiler, grille, used headlights, can't find a header panel, swapped new tires on the rear of it
Parts came in, brakes, all filters. I have all fluids ready
New to me factory radio came in, fm works and clock is good
Cleaned carpets and leather, put cream on leather and got it looking better

Now time to start timing belt on a Camry

Just had the blower motor resister replaced so I can have my AC back for the summer. Also had a new 170° thermostat installed to fix intermittant hot running. Also had it burped.
Many thanks (again!!) to FASTBLACKMERC for posting his recomended thermostat. Made a big difference. Owning and enjoying this car has been greatly enhanced over the years by all the great shared knowledge from the experts on this site. You guys rock! Thanks.

Redesigning the clutch master and mounting point to a much more rigid set up that should take a pounding. Even less pedal effort and an up sized bore to rid high RPM pedal stuck to the floor syndrome (luckily only once, I've been fortunate)

Fourth gen F body Tic Performance/Tilton unit.

If I knew about this within 2 years of owning the Marauder, it probably would had saved the original seals. I looked at 4 of the 32 old valve seals removed from the cylinder heads, they were really dry & brittle.

Wet towelled the SB to get the garage dust off, dried it, warmed it up, checked the oil and added 1/2 quart (first time it has ever needed oil) and went for ride... After 20 or so miles, and a few laps out on to freeway with strong pulls up to 80 or so (not racing--this is how fast they drive in CA on the freeway), at the next stop light I smoked rubber for as far as she'd put it out. Felt she slipped side to side and put it out for about 40 years or so! This was the strongest pull this car has ever done.

Was Badass for an NA Marauder.

Drove home, pulled into the driveway and then cried my ass off as I miss my son--and he would have loved the ride. The Marauders are something we did together.

When I could finally see, I backed it in, wet towelled the dust off, dried it, and re-covered it.

Photo from our last vacation, BOYZ trip to Maui- 4th day sunburned, inside, full of mirth, vim, and vigor. Happy 4th Berkeley. We miss you so much.

Took my Galaxie to a local car show. I let some mothers take pictures of their little kids sitting in my car. Who knows? Maybe they will become car nuts because some old guy at a car show in 2016 let them sit in an old Ford convertible.

(Happened to me in the early 50's. The car was a 1950 Merc convert somewhere in the Pocono Mountains. I was about 7-8, and the owner let me sit in the back seat while the families went for a ride. At that point, I became a Mercury lover and a car fanatic.)

Anyway, I have come to the point where I must admit that my car has probably won it's last trophy. Doesn't matter.

Another show next Sunday is on my schedule.

I have a really strong feeling the silver is going to be rocking a 4.0 Whipple really soon.

Doubt it, he's stated before that the blck car will be getting twins and he's using a 4l80 for the silver no reason get rid of 6r80 if your are going coyote. Either big bore/stroker 5.3l with a 4.0 Whipple or a 4.6/5.0 with a 4.0 Whipple I remember him saying he wanted either twins or a 4.0 Whipple. With the blck one being a turbo away from twins, I say he's now going for the 4.0 Whipple

RubberCtyRauder

Well fellas my original plan was a 5.0 Coyote motor with a 6R80 , and twin turbos , but the Coyote aluminator engine is 10K which I feel is severely over priced , so i ordered a 4.0L Whipple Crusher, and a 4L80E trans , I'll probably grab a Boss 5.3L crate shortblock, and add some ported heads , and make a quick 900rwhp.

Damn I'm good. Wonder what gas you plan on using. I'm assume pump gas is out of the question with the c/r the the crate 5.3 and 4v heads makes. I honestly think you are going to shoot right on by your mark of 900 whp if that is your engine combo. remember watching a video a Terminator with a 4.0 Whipple and 4r70 made over 850 at the wheels on 24 psi. Not sure If stock block or not but with your high compression and big bore and stroker I'm sure yours has a lot more potential, hell FordNut made just over 750 whp with just 16 psi lower compression and smaller blower with 5.3L

It does have a 200 tread rating but handles great, quite and pretty comfy for a 35s tire. I love them but wish they had a little higher treadware rating. 315/35/20 and 265/35/20 up front gonna cost me a bunch of coin.

Love the wide band hate the placement

I know it isn't the ideal location for most but I'm 6'1 and have to sit further back than a lot of people so I can see it rather easily. Also I have a module that will kill ignition whenever my targeted lean A/R ratio is hit on the wideband. So it makes it so that I don't have to constantly keep an eye on my wideband, when I feel the car nose dive from ignition being killed and see that little red light go off I know I was running lean for some reason

After spending a couple hours cleaning up ( and I use the term loosely) a spare set of wheels I have I decided the wheels that are on the SB, though not in perfect shape, are in better condition than the spare set. Got some Vitamin D at least. Going to put new shoes (Motivos) on the front of the SB tomorrow, change the oil and filter, new PCV everything and put in the Purple Power windshield washer fluid for Ms. D.

Picked up a case of NAPA 5w30 full synthetic on sale for $2.99 /qt and changed the oil and filter. Gonna do a short OCI flush with this oil, a 15 oz. btl. of Redline SI-1 fuel system clean-up and then a new fuel filter for general PM purposes.

It is worth mentioning that this car has a smoother, quieter idle with the 5w30 than with 5w20.

Suggestion - Offer them in the machined finish with clear powdercoat.

You sir have great taste. I was thinking when I do the mod, ill leave it that finish but was wondering how would I prevent weather imperfections.

Finally installed my new rear sway bar..it definitely tightened up the rear some more, and cleaned up my CHE rear arms while I had it up on the lift.

I think I would rather a non-powder coated set. Brembo doesn't powder coat, paints them as powder coating acts as an insulator.

Broke down 2 or so miles from home..had to get towed..of course after in began raining..possible fuel pump issues. car just sort of died, sputtering, stepping on gas did not change anything. then wouldn't re-start...later while waiting for tow, tried again and it seem to start, but not stay idling and stall and stepping on gas had no effect..no more info..it was dark and raining

Mine would do this before I went return fuel. It would die if driven in 85*-90* or higher and would run like a champ 45 minutes to an hour later. I never got around to installing my upgraded FPDM before I sold it but I'm sure it would have helped considering the fact I'm still running the very same 340 pump with the addition of a second one.

They don't normally fail all of a sudden. It usually takes a good few months or even a year to fail completely, like limited WOT bursts, sometimes chugs badly, sometimes perfectly fine.

Have you tried to start it since? Have you swapped the FP relay? You can monitor your FRPS with your Xcal. On hot days you would know exactly when mine was going to fail. The fuel pressure would slowly climb from 40-58 or so at idle then PLUMMET down to teens, then single digits, then car off.. At least it gave me time to find a place to pull over. Of all places mine started this **** I was in Atlanta traffic at Marauderville. Yet another reason I now insist on trailering!

Other two reasons for trailer. Broken actuator rod on my old cut outs leaving Louisville (LONG trip home with unhappy wife..) and grenading my driveshaft at the track, once again with the wife AND kids on a school night! (Finally got home at 12:30 in the morning)

All three breakdowns happened out of state. So never again! [emoji1303] As much as I DO still trust her, it just isn't worth the aggravation. Plus the truck is a much much nicer, quieter, and roomy ride..

Basically I know what your going thru.

I upgraded the relay as well and bought a 2nd upgraded FPDM to keep with emergency parts in the trunk. I also have the Aeromotive. I broke down twice before I upgraded. Fine ever since.

I was hoping that would fix you right up. Mine was never swapped because of timing is all. I never have time.. LOL

I just dealt with it for a year as all my trips are short errands anyways. Before I knew it, I was gutting out everything stock and moving forward. Just two simple 340's on a return, no more issues, and more than enough fueling to well exceed my current set up. Best damn thing I've done is go return!

Same issue, same pump a few weeks ago. Installed an AEM 320. Good to go as tested yesterday with a lot of driving and idle time. Been driving on short trips earlier during the week as well.
