View Full Version : Snow storm, how you's doin'?
My sister says there is about 7 inches of snow already on the ground in west TN and it is still sleeting and snowing, and they are prepared to be snowed in. We are supposed to go into a winter storm advisory here in the Hampton Roads area starting at 7 p.m. We hit the Farm Fresh on the way home from work and stocked up on the essentials like Stella, Blue Moon, etc. etc. Anybody else getting tons of snowfall?

I'm driving from Ohio to Marty's place in GA in the morning, should be a lot of fun getting through the mountains, supposed to be 12+ inches of snow.

I probably won't be doing much drinking and driving, you know, when roads are bad, things can get out of hand and you could spill your drink. :D

I hear ya! I have a "no open container" law in the Marauder and the 'vette. The reason: I tend to drive both like I'm in a road rally and stuff tends to fly around, lol. Heck I don't even allow FOOD in my cars, last time I did, I ended up launching my french fries across the passenger seat and floorboard! Hard to drive and eat fries off the floormat at the same time. But it can be done.

Guess I phrased that wrong as I did not mean that to be a lot of snow or that we were "snowed in", as that is not the case. We get the weather reports down here about it snowing several feet up there. I am glad we are getting so little snow here , believe me.

Right now I'm in a hole. Several inches to the south, west, north, east. We got a couple of inches and it cooled down about dark, so it covered the road. Now it has warmed up a little so it has melted on the roads. Probably means a nice sheet of ice in the morning.
4 inches for the metropolitan area in the morning. :snowman:

Got a call from a co-worker who has spent the last 10 days down in the Grand Canyon. He is now stranded in Tucumcari, NM since Wednesday night. I-40 is shut down and the storm is following I-40 east across the country.

It's done here. A light drizzle. 36 degrees, the slush is melting. Marauders are parked, wifey gets to drive the exploder, I'll drive the truck until the salt is washed off the roads.

Spent all week in Houston, mid-60's and Sunny and then I come home to this...ugh!
Moving ahead, and in the right direction. Waiting on a phone call or two and that should take care of things.

Tonight is worse than last night here. It melted today so the streets were soaking wet, then tonight it dropped into the 20's. It's a solid sheet of ice, interstates are shut down everywhere around here due to wrecks.

Left Medford, NJ around 1030 this morning. Ran into the snow line at Wilmington, DE. With SIRIUS traffic/weather radio saying Baltimore and the DC Beltways were hosed, I came down the Eastern Shore and across the Bay Bridge. Took an extra 2 hours to get home, but I took my time. Even though a neighbor plowed my driveway (blacktop), I couldn't get up the hill. So I went up my next doors neighbors dirt driveway and came across our connector between properties. The 09 Jetta ran like a champ in the snow, except the performance M+S tires didn't like the slick driveway.
I think we actually have about 10 inches of snow on the deck, just souteast of Waldorf, MD. And it's a warm 18 here currently.

I believe that! I saw 3 wrecks take place before my eyes last night on my way through Knoxville, considered stopping for the night..... but didn't. The highways were bad, I understand the side streets were even worse.

Most Companys run a "front line" tread all the way around. We run a all season (mud&snow) tread only on the drive wheels. Newer coaches have a traction lock and tag axle unload switch (take the air off the tags - last axle - and puts 10,000 lbs more weight on the drive's :) Had to use it twice on Saturday:P

He's the one in the middle. Over twenty years experience making Snowmen.
He said they had enough snow to make three snowmen. And when they were done there was enough snow to do it again?

Lots of snow here in Southern Indiana as well as Northern. I was up visiting the alma matter last weekend and for a rare moment, we had as much snow as they did!
Unfortunately, there's more on the way at least until Wednesday.
I washed and waxed the Marauder today. I'll probably detail the interior tomorrow.

The picture of my back yard from upstairs was made on Feb 12th--14 inches of snow--the 2 pics of the MM and the pear trees blooming now were taken today. Also shown in the front view is my infamous hood ornament and my DIY god's head grill emblem. "The Shadow" now has 109,000 fun miles on her--looking forward to 100,000 more. As soon as I sell my '69 Barracuda (Hemmings "1" show car, anyone interested ???)--the Marauder will be made into a show car--really looking forward to that. Just for fun I'm including a pic of the new driver for the Marauder--my 4 month old great-grandson, Brady--guess it will be about 2026 when he gets to drive it ;) that is, if Audri (6 years old), doesn't wear it out when she gets her license in 2020:burnout:. Hope all you snowbirds have had your belly full of snow--that's why we moved to Texas 33 years ago--14 inches of snow is just 3 inches below the record snowfall over the last 50 years. Somehow, I hope to make one more big get-to-gether with you folks--don't know when family situations will let that happen--keep your fingers crossed. Maury
