In relation to the K5 and it's also on www.ck5.com too

I have had this strange problem for over a year. I must explain everything first. When I would start the truck when it was very cold outside a few of the gauge lights wouldn't work. Half of the speedo would be lit, half the gas gauge and all of the left side gauges would be out. When it would warm up, all of the lights would work.

Last year the gauges decided to all stay in "cold" mode, even in the middle of summer. I knew it wasn't the lights even though everyone said it was, but the other day someone asked me if I changed the radio. I did, to a Pioneer a few years ago and the "cold" mode started happening a few months later, but only when it was cold outside, like 15 or colder until I got the interior warm.

The guy said this could be related to the install of the radio with the wiring. I didn't install the radio and don't know anything about electronics's other than I like to stay away from them. This seems like an easy task to find a bad wire or a loose one, but does anyone know what exactly to look for in relation to the gauges?

Check the grounds on the truck! The first one I would look at is the cab to frame one Dom.

I hope it's that easy. Acccording to one guy on the other board I might have to replace all the gauges due to the plastic falling apart or cracking on the other side. By this happening it stops a lotta the power from making it to all of the lights.

It could be a junkyard trip to fix this, but hopefully it's just a ground like you said.

Did it start when you put the radio in?

It started a couple of months later. We installed the stuff here at my store and its not wird into those circuits. The problem is else where. I suspect a ground problem.

Ditto what Pops said.
