Holy Moly; a wheel standing 9.45 on a single carburetor 289 small block. Incredible, not even dyno tuned(?). That car surely weighs over 4000 lbs right?

Did you noticed the massive rear end of that drive train. Me thinks that the combo of clutch, tranny, rear end, watts linkage, drag bars and prolly a few more suspension mods account for the excellent power transfer.

Reminds me of Toomanyfords recent rear end design on ProRauder.

I've run 289 small blocks for 20 years in my younger days. Also, I am very familiar with 60s Fairlanes being the founder and past President of the Fairlane Club of America. I've run all kinds of 289 hipos in Falcons and Fairlanes. First the engine is a 443 - yes 443 cubes. The HP to push the Fairlane that high in the air is at least 400 HP - yes at least 400 HP. Don't believe what the owner said. POPs can easily verify my remarks.

Beautiful Fairlane - great to see such a fine piece of American Iron still running strong. Low 9s is unreal for this heavy of a car and HP.

He never said it was a 289... he said it was a 400-something.

You can bore and stroke aftermarket small blocks to 460 or pretty close!!!:bows::beer:

I have a 1974 351W block in my Cobra punched out to 408ci.....:D

Now making 800 HP N/A is another trick!!!

Only reference to "289" is the badges on the car!!:D
