hi guys new to mm.net and just recently joined cv.net also. Bought a 2005 Crown victoria less than 2 months ago, a police interceptor worth working on. It is my 3rd crown vic in the past 4 years. I was buying them out of police fleet + taxi service and was getting them at 195,000+ miles. I live in Chicago so you know they are not easy on the cars here. I got sick of the abused cars with the horrible service and saved up and hit the used police car lots. I wanted a car I knew I could dirver without the wheel flying off on me and that hasn't been serviced it's whole life with cheap parts.

I found a beauty out of Wisconsin with 120,000 highway miles on it. Miles were a bit high for what I wanted but the factory paint, carpeted floor, and immaculate interior combined with a well maintained powerful engine and smooth transmission and i was sold! I was tired of the slow rebuilding of a car that was just more problems and this one has been great to me so far. I've only had it two weeks but have already had the car buffed, radio changed out to aftermarket cd player with ipod input (looking to upgrade to factory stereo with cd out of 2007 and modified ipod input). Intake is already upgraded to marauder box on the 2005 so no need for switch of cold air intake. I have done an oil change with royal purple 5w30 and royal purple air filter. Just switched out air and fuel filter to Motorcraft specified. Picked up a kevlar liner trunk pack super cheap today ($30) threw some switches on from radio shack to fill in the holes (two) in the dash panel. This car has no holes besides that. I took off the spotlight since they are an obstruction of view and I really don't like the look but quickly put it back as the car looked bare and it fits nice with the silver paint. I didnt care for the hole it left behind either and am not looking to do any paint or body work as the paint is in great condition.

I plan to do a tune up very soon. The tires are in great condition. The car does have 5 antenna mounts on the roof I am weary about plugging the holes but don't want to antenna it all off either. Was looking to put in Lincoln Towncar seats and do the Explorer overhead console Mod but other than that I want to keep it as OEM as possible. Wanted to find faux wood grain dash panel and may switch the grill out from police honeycomb to chrome grill but would also have to invest in chrome tails and rear fascia. The headlights are slightly hazed so i plan to restore them as soon as spring hits. I guess thats all I have to say for now if you guys have any suggestions (no rude ones hopefully) I'm all ears! Enough words here are pics of the car right off the lot!

Also if you have dash trim from a marauder or an lx crown victoria I am interested please pm me. http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/user_uploads/16574.jpghttp://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/user_uploads/16576.jpghttp://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/user_uploads/16575.jpg

Looks good!! Where in Wisconsin did you get it? I know Lafayette County has silver cars, they are high miles, but since it's a county full of farms and rural land, the cars aren't all beat to piss. Good luck with your PI and you'll have to come to the Grill and Chill gathering in Elkhorn this year!

Your dealer probably bought that car from the auction in Fond Du Lac. Rhat auction is open to the public, and when I go there, the Lafayette cars always look good and fluids maintained.

lol yeah i know for me its low mileage because i buy them with such highhhhhhhh mileage. To me it's low mileage because i know more or less how long these cars last and since I got it before it could get beat to ***** i know I can make it survive even longer! haha I still have a 98 crown victoria pushing 260,000 and its still running ex-police, ex-taxi car then passed on to me. I know I have a good 150,000 miles at least on this car before it craps out on me. well let's cross fingers on that :)

NoMARQUIS- i know its probably a range but how much do the lafayette cars go for?

I'd guess your dealer paid between 3000 and 4000 for your car. I know last year I bid on a 2004 CVPI from Lafayette County, it was too rich for my blood. It sold for 2950. A week later I saw it sell on ebay for 4100.
